Design & Build a 3D figure• Create your own supernatural being. It
should represent YOU somehow.– It DOES NOT have to be human in
shape. But if it is, now you have a better idea about proportion.
– It can have 2 legs or 7 legs!• Sketch out designs • Wire ‘armature’. Build up with foil, paper
and then cover with plaster wrap with a final layer of papier mache
• You are responsible for making your figure stand (create a base or make sure it balances!)
the inside support system of a structure
Armature
Plaster Wrap
• Fabric that has been infused with plaster
a glue mixture that uses newspaper, wheat paste (flour) and water
Papier Mache
After it’s built• Embellish and paint your sculptures
– Details, textures and painted surfaces are very important and shouldn’t be neglected or rushed through.
Student Samples
• Getting your figure to stand will be challenging but there are many ways to do this– Simple balance (more than 2 legs can help!)– Foil/Cardboard
• Bring in materials to embellish your figure with
• This project will take about 3 weeks to complete.
