Jesus’ public life was that of a traveling preacher. He traveled on foot without a fixed place to do his work or to lay his tired head. He traveled through all parts of Israel - to the Jordan to meet with John the Baptist, through desert and lake areas preaching to the doubtful and healing the sick, through pagan territories and through the lands of believers of Is-rael. Jesus’ life was a constant pilgrimage reaching out to everyone in his quest to bring the New Covenant to the people. Except for the few times when he traveled by boat, all his journeying was on foot. In to-day’s Gospel, Jesus finally arrived at the gates of Jerusalem knowing that it would be there that he would complete the mission of his Father; it would be there that he would give himself over to be sacrificed on the cross. But before entering the holy city of Jerusalem Jesus paused to contemplate the sight of the temple that was the center of the Jewish faith and the beautiful city that was its home. Jesus was saddened by the sight of the city and decided to change his style of travel. And so he entered into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. It is at this point that we ask ourselves, along with the Jews so long ago, “Who is Jesus”? This was and is the fundamental question of our faith. “Who is Jesus”? At that moment on that day, the Jews accepted him at his word and proclaimed him to be the Messiah – the Son of David and the King of Israel. But it wouldn’t be long before they would change their minds and, just a few days later, cry out vehemently for him to be crucified for claiming to be King of the Jews – the Messiah! Such was the fickleness of the people. Now, we apply today’s Gospel to our own lives here and now. Is it not our own personal experience that one day we are on fire with the love of Jesus and the next day, fall back into our old ways of sinning? This Holy Week, let it be different. Let us march triumphantly with Jesus today as he enters into his passion and death and let us remain at his side as, once again we remember his agony in Gethsemane and his road to the cross. Let us stand with Mary, Jesus’ mother and with John and his other faithful friends as we relive through prayer the events of this, the holiest week of our liturgical calendar. We do this, so that we can stand with Jesus at his resurrection on Sunday and anticipate our own resurrec-tion at the end of time. This is the central focus of our faith. May we live this upcoming week well in prayerful union with Christ.

MARCH 25TH, 2018 PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD May Christ give us the grace of loving self-sacrifice, as we cherish every person’s life; We pray to the Lord:

Vocation Corner: He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

Throughout this Lenten season we recognize that Jesus Christ had a specific goal in mind. Which was to save his people. In choosing to save others he had to give up everything including his life. In light of this we recognize that every person is called to become more like Christ. Only in becoming like Christ do we discover our true vocation. For everyone's ultimate vocation is to become a Saint! So during the conclusion of this Lenten season ask Christ what things you are holding on to that are not of him. Things that are getting in the way of you being Christ to others. For we must die to ourselves, pick up our cross and follow him. The more and more you allow yourself to die, and decrease the more Jesus Christ will increase. Then as He fills you up He will point you to your proper vocation. Now when you wake up every morning say this simple prayer... 'Jesus Christ I must decrease, so that you can in-crease. Let me die this day so that you can truly live.' Make this prayer everyday for a month and then after the month is over look back and ask yourself, 'Am I more like Him?'

GOOD FRIDAY “WAY OF THE CROSS” AT PLANNED PARENT-

HOOD AURORA

Through His Holy Passion, Our Lord united Himself with all the victims of suffering in this life. None suffer more innocently than children in the womb whose lives are taken by abortion. None suffer more deeply than their mothers, who carry such a burden of guilt and shame.

On Good Friday we remember all the victims of abortion—the children lost, the mothers wounded, the communities blighted—in a solemn, ecu-menical prayer service:

Event: Way of the Cross for Victims of Abortion

When: Friday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Where: Planned Parenthood, 3051 E New York Street in Aurora

More Info: Contact Matt Yonke at 630-896-1200 or [email protected]

Join us as we pray for healing for the victims of abortion and for a final end to this injustice in our land. 4444
