In West Africa they use a method of collec�ng offerings I call boogie for bucks. The worship band cuts loose

with a beat that would make a Buckingham Palace guard tap his foot. Men, women and children in bright

Sunday finery form a Conga line and dance past the offering box where they drop off the goods.

On a Sunday forever etched into my memory, I visited a church that added a new twist to boogie for bucks. I

couldn’t understand the Nigerian instruc�ons but recognized the offering song. Eager to demonstrate my

grasp of their culture, I jumped into the line, money in hand.

It was somewhere past the box, as I shook my boo�e in place, that several observa�ons stole over me. First,

compared to the other worshipers, I was painfully rhythm challenged. Second, every eye was on me. Third,

the men were s�ll seated and only the women danced with me. There was nothing to do except

boogie all the long way around the church and back to my chair and enjoy my lesson in humility.

Whether it’s boogie for bucks or singing hymns, one of the richest gi/s to earthbound saints is

corporate worship. I may exalt God privately all week but I s�ll love to gather with believers for praise and

celebra�on. Like a sip from the throne room in Heaven, it strengthens me to join others touched by God.

What ma3ers during worship is not if our service is tradi�onal or contemporary, but if it is genuine. Nothing

is as boring as false liturgy or fake ecstasy. When I look at you or you look at me and we recognize someone

so moved by the King of Kings that we transcend caring what others think, that’s dignified worship.

Prayer: Mighty God, help me get over myself and worship You.

1. Please pray for a woman named KIMKIMKIMKIM. She just found out that she has a very aggressive form of brain

cancer. She and her whole family are believers. Pray for healing and peace.

2. ZUERNER’S ZUERNER’S ZUERNER’S ZUERNER’S diagnosis of pancreatic cancer has been confirmed. Her treatment will be radiation. Pray that

the treatment will be scheduled to begin soon and will be effective....

3. STEVE JOHNSONSTEVE JOHNSONSTEVE JOHNSONSTEVE JOHNSON, John Zuerner’s brother-in-law, was recently diagnosed with ALS. It is moving very quickly

and he now needs to use a wheel chair. He also has pancreatic cancer. Pray for strength for him and his

wife.

4. A friend of Betsy Page asked for prayer for her brother TIM WINGTIM WINGTIM WINGTIM WING. Betsy’s friend is not a believer and

neither is her brother Tim. Tim has been diagnosed with cancer. He will be having tests run for a more

precise diagnosis. Pray this will draw them to the Lord.

5. . . . Pray for comfort for FRAN NEILSEN AND FAMILYFRAN NEILSEN AND FAMILYFRAN NEILSEN AND FAMILYFRAN NEILSEN AND FAMILY.

6. Pray for BOB CULTONBOB CULTONBOB CULTONBOB CULTON, brother-in-law to Shamblins who was diagnosed with liver cancer. He is on

Hospice, but recently has been able to eat and have more strength for sitting up. Pray for peace for him

and his wife Shirley. Pray for his salvation.

7. KRIS BOWER is KRIS BOWER is KRIS BOWER is KRIS BOWER is receiving chemo again. She has two places where there is active cancer going on. Pray that

the chemo will be very effective and that she will begin to feel better and not worse! She appreciates all

your prayers....

8. Pray for a woman named ERICA ERICA ERICA ERICA who has pancreatic cancer that has spread to her back now. Pray for her

salvation and peace of mind.

9. Leslie Verdick’s sister TERI RAE TERI RAE TERI RAE TERI RAE has breast and lung cancer. Pray for peace and comfort for her.

10. Phil Capogna's brother STEVE’S STEVE’S STEVE’S STEVE’S treatment was not effective. The latest treatment was not successful as his

numbers were off. The doctor did a bone marrow biopsy. Pray for good results from that biopsy. Steve is

in an incredible amount of pain and he is not sleeping well. Pray for relief of pain.

11. John Zuerner’s friend MIKE STALCUPMIKE STALCUPMIKE STALCUPMIKE STALCUP has throat cancer. He is not a believer, pray for his salvation.

12. JEAN CORIEA, JEAN CORIEA, JEAN CORIEA, JEAN CORIEA, a friend of Zuerners, has cancer and nothing more can be done for her. Pray for her

salvation. Pray for peace and comfort.

13. Continue to pray for GRACE PROROK GRACE PROROK GRACE PROROK GRACE PROROK as she deals with colon cancer.

14. PAM LEAVITTPAM LEAVITTPAM LEAVITTPAM LEAVITT is on a new treatment. Pray it will not have any serious side effects.

2. Kratzer’s granddaughter BAILEEBAILEEBAILEEBAILEE, who is 18, was recently diagnosed with a tumor the size of a grapefruit.

All of the tests results have been sent to a lab. It has been close to 3 weeks since the tests. She is very

discouraged along with her family that it is taking so long. She is very uncomfortable and is unable to sleep

or sit for any length of time. Pray for a good diagnosis and that it will not be cancer.

3. Continue to pray for healing and strength for DAVID CARLSON.DAVID CARLSON.DAVID CARLSON.DAVID CARLSON. David will be going back to Seattle for

another stint in the next week or two. Pray for comfort for him and Karen.

the doctors will be able to help her with what has caused this.

Pray the doctor will find what is causing the fever. Pray for her appetite and her well being.

6. Alexis Megahan’s younger brother WILLIAM GEORGE WILLIAM GEORGE WILLIAM GEORGE WILLIAM GEORGE is in the hospital with a blocked valve. The doctor is

trying to treat it without surgery. Pray for healing and wisdom for the doctor. Mark & Alexis’

granddaughter CAIRACAIRACAIRACAIRA who has had problems carrying babies to full term is doing well with this pregnancy.

Continue to pray she will have no complications. Pray for Caira and Spencer’s salvation. Both of Mark’s

PARENTSPARENTSPARENTSPARENTS have cancer and neither are believers. Pray for their salvation.

7. PAULINE PORTER PAULINE PORTER PAULINE PORTER PAULINE PORTER is experiencing a lot of pain from a fall she took. She is having physical therapy.

diagnosis from the doctor.

problems. She will have a sleep study done soon. She has pain in her joints from other issues. Pray for
