Police shooting and media coveragethroughout the state:
a. Fundraising for memorial funds;b. Public space dedication to four
officers and others who have diedin the past;
Marco raised the idea of the CBDs coordinating permanentmemorial at 14 th and Broadway for the officers that werekilled in Oakland. Majority of the attendees felt it wasproblematic for the CBDs invest in this type of projectconsidering the sensitive climate since the Oscar Grantshooting.
PR Task Force meeting last Wednesday,purpose and update on tour
a. Mike Brown initiation of strategicplan
PR Task Force is working on a Strategic Plan to roll out theCBDs to the media. The group discussed the idea of thedistricts hiring a PR firm on retainer. Could cost $3,000-$5,000per month. Chamber of Commerce put out an RFP for a PRcoordinator and an assistant. Might be a good idea to follow-up with them. Using staff to feed PR firm with information,would save money.
Proposal by Karen Eichler for temporaryart Tele-Bro Triangle
Oakland has a dense reputation for the creative. Presented apowerpoint about how art installations have revitalized citiesacross America. Would like to coordinate with Oakland
Museum and property owners along Broadway to install art inwindow displays. She will submit a proposal to the DISICommittee to coordinate this art installation project.
Review of web site proposals, review ofbudget. Selection of vendor for one orboth websites
