Date The Preacher writes in Ecclesiastes 3, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." Besides providing the lyrics for a GREAT song -- "Turn, Turn, Turn," written by Pete Seeger and made very popular by The Byrds -- the Preacher speaks spiritual truth. Life does have its seasons. Ther e ar e seasons of constancy and seasons of change. You may be aware that New Hope is presently in a season of change. We have been aware for some time that our Director of Children's Ministry, Josh Bar na, was anticipating a season of change. Josh's wife, Amery, is nearing completion of her fellowship in neuroscience at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati and has been interviewing for a new position in her field. That will involve relocation for Amery and Josh and we're grateful that Josh has been very transparent and forthcoming about this change. Consistory has made the decision to begin the search now for someone to succeed Josh rather than wait until he concludes his ministry with us. Children's Ministry is a very high priority at New Hope as evidenced by the investment of financial and human resources. We desire to have as seamless a transition as possible with some overlap between Josh and his successor. Additionally, we are surrounding Josh with a team of key stakeholders who will provide support and continuity during this time and beyond. Just a few weeks ago our Church Administrator, Phil Thompson , let me know that after a year of service, he desires to be truly retired. To Phil's credit, he wants to be totally invested in his family and grandchildren, all of whom live in close geographical proximity to Phil and his wife, Cindy. So, we are also in the process of searching for a new Church Administrator. I know some people thrive on change. I do, as long as I can control the change. Of course, it's fallacious to assume that would ever be possible. Instead, I remind myself of and prevail upon the faithfulness of God. New Hope is God's church, and God will call and equip those whom God desires to serve. I ask for your prayers and your help during this season of change. If you or someone you know may be interested in these positions, please have them contact me. I rather suspect that we will have both internal and external candidates. As I've told Consistory and our staff, my commitment is that we will hire the best people for each position. As the great missionary, Hudson Taylor, was known to say, "God provides where God leads." The Preacher w r i tes in Ecclesiastes 3, "For ever ything there is a season, and a time for ever y matter under heaven..." Besides providing the lyr ics for a GREAT song -- "Turn, Turn, Turn," w r i tten by Pete Seeger and made ver y popular by The Byrds -- the Preacher speaks spir i tual tr uth. Li fe does have i ts seasons. There are seasons of constancy and seasons of change. You may be aware that New Hope is presently in a season of change.

We have been aware for some time that our Dir ector of Chi ldren's Ministr y, Josh Bar na, was anticipating a season of change. Josh's w ife, Amer y, is near ing completion of her fel lowship in neuroscience at Chi ldren's Hospital in Cincinnati and has been inter view ing for a new posi tion in her f ield. That w i l l involve r elocation for Amer y and Josh and we'r e grateful that Josh has been ver y tr ansparent and for thcoming about this change. Consistor y has made the decision to begin the search now for someone to succeed Josh rather than wait unti l he concludes his ministr y w ith us. Chi ldren's Ministr y is a ver y high pr ior i ty at New Hope as evidenced by the investment of f inancial and human resources. We desir e to have as seamless a tr ansi tion as possible w ith some over lap between Josh and his successor. Additionally, we are sur rounding Josh w ith a team of key stakeholders who w i l l provide suppor t and continui ty dur ing this time and beyond.

Just a few weeks ago our Church Administr ator , Phi l Thom pson , let me know that after a year of ser vice, he desir es to be tr uly r eti r ed. To Phi l 's credi t, he wants to be total ly invested in his fami ly and grandchi ldren, al l of whom l ive in close geographical proximity to Phi l and his w ife, Cindy. So, we are also in the process of searching for a new Church Administr ator.

I know some people thr ive on change. I do, as long as I can control the change. Of course, i t 's fal lacious to assume that would ever be possible. Instead, I r emind myself of and prevai l upon the fai thfulness of God. New Hope is God's church, and God w i l l cal l and equip those whom God desir es to ser ve.

I ask for your prayers and your help dur ing this season of change. I f you or someone you know may be interested in these posi tions, please have them contact me. I r ather suspect that we w i l l have both internal and external candidates. As I 've told Consistor y and our staff , my commitment is that we w i l l hi r e the best people for each posi tion. As the great missionar y, Hudson Taylor , was know n to say, "God provides where God leads."

As a church body we donate and give as the bible commands us by giving 10% of our income to var ious char i table organizations. Just a few of the organizations New Hope suppor ts on a r egular basis include:

- 7 di f ferent missionar ies in 7 di f ferent countr ies- Mission of Mercy (New Hope's ministr y to members of our community in f inancial need)- Dublin Food Pantr y- Mission Columbus- Young Li fe- Hope College- Habitat for Humanity

Thanks to your generous giving, we are able to help each of these ministr ies accomplish their good work. Our Outreach Team determines which ministr ies we suppor t each year w ith these designated funds, which we refer to as Benevolences.

On the subject of giving, as previously announced, the Deacons have decided to discontinue ACH giving (where your offer ing is dir ectly debited from your bank account) because of the cost associated w ith that program. Those affected by this change have been noti f ied or w i l l be noti f ied soon. Please see any Deacon w ith questions. I f you would l ike to continue (or begin) using automated giving, you'r e encouraged to set up a r ecur r ing gi f t onl ine or via text giving. For detai ls please visi t NewHopeWor ship.com /Sm ar tGiv ing.

You may notice in the f inancial r epor t below that for the month of Januar y our expense budget exceeds our income budget. In an attempt to better manage our cash f low , we have budgeted our expenses when we expect them to occur , r ather than dividing them equally over twelve months. But be assured that our annual budget is balanced, as presented to the congregation and approved by Consistor y. We w i l l continue to do al l we can to be good stewards of the f inancial gi f ts entr usted to New Hope, and to use those gi f ts to Reach, Root , and Release people for Chr ist.

GODS AT WAR: DEFEATING THE IDOLS THAT BATTLE FOR YOUR HEARTWednesdays at 7:00PMFacilitated by Dave Summers

The Bible teaches us that false gods have no place in our l ives and, on f i r st glance, that doesn't seem to be our problem today. But these idols can take many di f ferent forms: success, money, sex, food, self-image, and others. By asking insightful questions, Kyle Idleman reveals which false gods most often take the place of the one tr ue God. Then, using power ful testimonies of those who have str uggled w ith each area, he i l lustr ates a clear path away from the hear tache of twenty-f i r st-centur y idolatr y and back to the hear t of God.

Each summer , New Hope sends our middle school youth to Cran-Hi l l Ranch summer camp. For over 45 years Cran-Hi l l Ranch has been helping kids grow closer to God offer ing fun and exci ting summer camp programs. Their natural setting, near ly 300 acres car ved out of Michigan forest, gives summer campers at Cran-Hi l l Ranch a r eal sense of "going to camp." Our youth par ticipate in "Maximum-Exposure" camp - a camp for the camper who wants to do i t al l ! Each day youth sign up for a new activi ty or spend more time on their favor i te activi ty, the choice is their s. Some of the activi ties to choose from include Beach, Trai l Ride, Zip Line, Rif ler y, Ar cher y, Basketball , Tennis, Tie-Dye and more. Check out Cr anHi l lRanch.com for more detai ls.

Cran-Hi l l is one of the best summer camp oppor tuni ties for spir i tual grow th. I have w itnessed dozens of New Hope youth, including my ow n chi ldren, posi tively impacted by Cran-Hi l l 's emphasis on a personal r elationship w ith Chr ist. Picking the youth up last year from camp punctuated what I alr eady knew about Cran-Hi l l . Our dr ive
