Chris’s Corner Writer: Christine Tunstall Your Tongue – Bacteria Filled or Fresh Breath Clean

The tongue is a muscle. The two strongest muscles in the human body are the tongue and legs. You cannot swallow your tongue because under your tongue there's a thin layer of tissue or membrane called the "frenulum." You do not have the control over your tongue to be able to swallow it, if you wanted, but, you do have control over your tongue to both cause pain and discomfort or bring joy and happiness. Let’s note that the tongue is home to tons of bacteria. These bacteria feed on the remnants of things you eat. It is highly recommended that you brush your tongue. It is one of the main causes of bad breath. While the tongue collects a good amount of bacteria, it is very easy to clean. The more you clean your tongue, the longer it will stay that way. The Bible speaks of various types of tongues. Some are pleasing to God but others

are not pleasing to God at all. One of the tongues that God is not pleased with is the proud tongue. Psalm 12:3-4 says, "The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, with our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?" It is quite disconcerting to listen to Christians with proud tongues because a proud tongue usually comes with two closed ears! Proud- tongued Christians are generally so full of themselves that they learn very little from anyone else. A proud-tongued Christian will talk much of his knowledge and service, but very little about the Lord. In a church, a proud-tongued Christian will make all sorts of suggestions about how the church should function. A proud tongued Christian is usually very long on opinion and criticism yet very short on giving of their time, talent or tithe. Their huge contribution is they know everything. Another negative tongue is the overused tongue. Ecclesiastes 5:3 says that "a fool's voice is known by multitude of words." People think they appear smart by much talking, but the Bible states just the opposite. Ecclesiastes 5:2 says, "Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few." God doesn't like a blabber mouth. The response from someone usually guilty of having an overused tongue is: "Well, that's just the way I am!" Then REPENT! Confess and repent. Stop justifying your mess and ask God to help you repent. Another negative tongue is the tale bearing tongue. Proverbs 18:8 says, "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly." Leviticus 19:16 says, "Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people. . ." Every Christian has the duty to deny his own desires and seek to edify other Christians (Rom. 14:19; Philippians. 2:3). Tale bearing runs wholly contrary to Christian edification. Tale bearing (carrying and telling tales) spreads all sorts of hurtful information around, and Satan uses such information to hinder and tear down God's work. A victim of tale bearing, according to Proverbs, is a "wounded" person. I believe it grieves God when Christians wound one another. Some Christians live as though they think God has "called" them for this terrible task. Much can be said of a person's character by the way they use their tongue. Jesus said that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Mat. 12:34) According to Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of

Page 6: March 2012 Make It So Report

4

the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." In James 3:6, the Bible says that the tongue is "a fire, a world of iniquity", and James 3:8 calls the tongue a "deadly poison." What are you feeding your tongue? Are you constantly spewing out hatred, discord, negativity or do you seize opportunities given to you, to speak truth and love? While I was younger and over the years, I was taught to ask (myself) three basic questions before repeating something I was told about someone else. Those questions are: (1) is it true – do I have undisputed or irrefutable facts that what I am about to say is true; (2) is it nice – would I like to have a similar statement made about me or my loved one; and (3) is it necessary – do I really need to repeat these words. Will they serve any benefit to anyone listening or am I merely adding to the poisonous process by repeating these words. We were told as youngsters that we would get our mouths washed out with soap if we said bad words. What bacteria are you allowing to settle on your tongue without washing it away with love and kindness? What bacteria are you rinsing around in your mouth, spreading to the next unsuspecting sole? Your breath was fresh and clean before you began rinsing those hateful rumors and unkind words around on your now bacterial filled tongue. They didn’t taste good in your mouth. Why would you spread those bacteria to another? In 2012 commit to spread love, not hate. If you hear something that you know is not true, do not sit in silence. Correct the untruth. Speak up and speak out. Silence is not always golden. The truth shall set you free. Get the bacteria off your tongue with SCOPE (Sanctified Christians Obeying & Pleasing Elohim)! Be Blessed.

YOUR INNER CIRCLE Writer: Minister Donald Graham Jr.

Nourishing Relationships are the relationships with those people that inspire you and motivate you to become all that God has called you to be. These people provide you with the encouragement to bring the best out of you. Toxic Relationships are the relationships with people that constantly criticize and find fault in just about everything you do. They thrive on exploiting your weaknesses and they specialize in reminding you of your past mistakes. It goes without saying that these people are bad for your spiritual health because they are a hindrance to the move of God in your life. I believe that God has already revealed to you who some of those hindrances are and you have declared and decreed in 2012 that it is time for them to go. You recognize that where God is taking you in this next season that there is a requirement for you to rid yourself of the excess baggage in the form of toxic people, negative associations, and the superficial relationships that serve no real purpose in your life. Like the apostle Paul you have boldly declared that “if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are past away and behold ALL things are

become new.” I’m reminded of how God told Abram in Genesis 12:1-3 to “separate himself from his kindred and his father’s house.” This came at a time when God was about to reveal His purpose and plan for Abram’s life. It turns out that Abram separating himself from people who would be a hindrance or who did not fit into God’s plan ended up being the prerequisite for him receiving the revelation and subsequent promise of becoming the “Father of Many Nations”. We too must recognize that we have to come to a place in our lives where we need to take inventory of the people we have in our inner circle. You have to be willing to ask yourself the hard question: “Do the people in your life continually deposit into you or do they make continuous withdrawals from you?” Are they genuinely and authentically into who you are and where you are going or do they simply enjoy the “fringe benefits” of being around you? Look at how God had to reduce Gideon’s army from 32,000 followers to 300 faithful warriors. I find it interesting that Jesus had 5,000 people following Him but He only anointed 70 of them, and of the 70 He only selected 12 of them to be disciples, and of the 12 He only chose 3 to take with Him up on the Mount of Transfiguration. (Luke 9:27-36) My friend in order to fulfill God’s purpose for your life you have to take a closer look at the people who you associate yourself with. You have to realize that you are fed and nurtured by the people you choose to hang around. We suffer many setbacks in life because we associate ourselves with people who feed off of us but do not have the capacity to feed us in return. So when they begin making withdrawals from what I like to call our ATM (Access To Me) without making any deposits, they will ultimately leave us spiritually bankrupt. In other instances, we have to make the decision to stop hanging around people who have no aspirations to grow beyond where they are. Some people will feel threatened by you stepping out on faith and pursuing your dreams. You need to understand that the real issue is that they secretly need you to remain stagnant so they can continue to be comfortable staying where they are. Don’t worry about the haters and naysayers. There will always be other voices that speak against what God has promised you. The bible reminds us in Genesis 37:8 “that Joseph’s brothers hated him yet the more for his dreams…” So wisdom would tell you that you can’t share your vision with everyone. Toxic

people who have a negative disposition will be jealous and try to get you to abort what God has birthed in you. Think about it, you wouldn’t give just anybody the keys to your home or to your car, so why on earth would you give just anybody the keys to your dreams instead of entrusting them to God? Be encouraged in knowing that God will send people into your life who will not only support the vision…but help you give birth to it. Until then, stop sharing where you’re going with people who only focus on where you’ve been.

Pastor Young’s Corner Writer: Pastor Lenora G. Young “After I Come Out Of This One, I’m Coming Out On Another Level”

Scripture: Job 23:10

“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth

as gold.”

I Peter 5:10 “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ

Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish,

strengthen, settle you.”

From the moment you and I were conceived until this present time, we have encountered many challenges and have gone through a vast number of changes

to get to the level we’re on. From conception – the embryo – first, second and third trimester – to birth – through infancy – childhood – adolescence and now adulthood, we’ve survived the good and the bad. At times, more bad than good – ups and downs, in some incidences, more down than up – transitional periods – not where you use to be yet not where you’re going to be. Believe it or not, these diverse situations have caused us to be what we are today. Starting on one level and ending on another. Some situations brought forth negative results and some brought positive results. Whether negative or positive, it has caused us to be what we are and where we are. Going through the experience of change and at times not knowing what the outcome would be. Each experience, each level brings about growth. Growth is a stage, in the process of growing – changing in size – getting larger – it’s a progressive development. Each experience should bring on another level of maturity. For the word tells us in I Cor. 13:11, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” Grow: To Spring up and Develop to maturity. Growth entails change. That which I did when I was a child, I no longer do because my experience has caused me to move into another level. Growth also entails pain, suffering, loses, and gains. As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. It’s purposely designed to move us to another level or plateau of maturity – another level of ministry – another level of anointing. It is so patterned to re-shape your way of thinking – your actions – your attitude. It states in the book of Isa. 55:8, 9; “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” The mind set must change – the attitude must change. Why? Because, “He knoweth that way that I take and after He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Because you are saved, because you are sanctified, because you have the Spirit of God abiding in your life and you speak in seven sets of tongues, this does not exempt you from going through, the bible says; 2 Tim 3:12 “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” We need to stop telling people, when you get saved, when you give your life to the Lord, your problems are over – everything is

Page 10: March 2012 Make It So Report

MARCH 2012 MAKE IT SO REPORT VOLUME 14

8

going to be all right. No – we must let young converts know that there will be times when everything in your life takes a turn for the worse. Problems will not cease because you have turned your life into the hands of the Lord.

But we must show them how to deal with them and what to do when adverse situation come about. They have to know that the devil will not bother those that belong to him. The going through – the test – the trial – taking this spiritual exam – experiencing a spiritual pop quiz – sometimes loosing – sometimes gaining – up times – down times – good days – bad days – it all serves as preparation and determines your readiness and qualifications for your elevation to the next level. Even though you’re living as Godly as you can – you’re living all you know – it does not stop the progressiveness of God to move you to the next level in Him. Rom. 8:28; “For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” There are some of you that God wants to use, but He can’t use you on the level you’re on. You’re going through difficult situations – can’t seem to get it together – before you can get one thing straight, something else comes up. When you’ve made up your mind to serve God and yield yourself totally to Him, the enemy comes in and puts something inviting in front of you to cause you to take your eyes off the prize. Please allow me to help you – take that same situation and use it as a stepping stone to the next level in God. Everything around you has become a sour lemon? Take that same bitter lemon circumstance, add some sugar to it – sugar being symbolic to praise – and make lemonade – you’re in preparation for the next level. He knoweth (He knows on a continuous basis) the way that you take – He already knows what you’re going through – He’s knows just how much you can take – He knows the direction you’re headed. He knows the plans He has for you. Plans of good and not evil. When he hath tried me, When he hath tried you – the bible says, “We shall come forth as gold. “After I Come Out Of This One, I’m Coming Out On Another Level” Your going through is for a purpose – it’s for a specific and divine purpose. This trial has been divinely ordered by God. God has chosen you – He has picked you out to be picked on. One reason according to the New Living Translation “But he knows where I am going. And when he has tested me like gold in a fire, he will pronounce me innocent.” God is doing all He can to get you to see where He wants to take you. He’s trying His best to say to you “WORK WITH ME” – I’m trying to take you somewhere. It’s called “WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD” – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We know that God causes everything to work together for the good. In everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan. It’s called “PULLING DOWN STRONG HOLDS” – II Cor. 10:4 (b) explains to us Because the weapons of our warfare is not carnal, we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. It’s called “COMING OUT AS GOLD” when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Keep in mind at all times;

“After I Come Out Of This One, I’m Coming Out On Another Level”

The Feel good flavor Writer: Simone Malone Well, it’s soon to be spring. Time is flying. It’s not surprising that so many of us suffer from stress and over-stimulation. In our technological world, as wonderful as it is, we are asked to move faster, think more quickly and multitask. Trying to fit everything into a 24-hour day, spend quality time with our families and also find time to relax and rest become more and more difficult. Many of us get so tied up in this race that we are unable to relax and enjoy anything at all. The end result is stress, anxiety, burnout and even depression. I have three very simple rules that I'd like to share with you this week to bring joy back into your life. First, it means slowing things down. Slowing down probably means cutting a few things out of your routine. Maybe you could turn off the television a little earlier or spend less time in front of it. A homemade lunch in the sunshine instead of racing to the local fast food place is another great way to win back some of the nicer moments of the day. Next, give some attention to mealtime and the foods you put into your body--that is my second rule of reclaiming joy. Are you zipping through the drive-through in the evenings because you are too tired to go home and cook? Eating well doesn't necessarily require hours of grueling food preparation. It can be as simple as cutting out foods with a high fat content and eating more salads, greens, and having some green tea. When your body is functioning well you will feel better mentally and emotionally, too. The third point is to start having fun. Set aside time for a hobby or artistic endeavor that you enjoy. I hear so many people complain that they just aren't creative, and this couldn't be more untrue. The key is to enjoy the moment of creating, however that unfolds. Life is too short to spend our precious moments feeling stressed and frustrated. Being happy is the natural state of life. It is our birthright, and we can see it in the smiles and laughter of children. Now, I hope you will take some time to see what the week and this month holds for you. Until the next time, I am sprinkling some feel good flavor on you.

A Healthy Body Is A Healthy Mind Is A Healthy Spirit VIII Writer: Phill Hughes

Just as I was laying out my column to discuss more health issues, I ran across an edition of Metro. They did a special section titled, “Getting Down To The Heart Of The Matter”. The focus of the article was heart disease. I was very impressed with Metro’s special edition because the article discussed prevention, symptoms for women, and a host of other issues surrounding heart disease. What amazed me the most about the article is that diet and exercises were the prevention and the reversal of effects of heart disease. Dr. Herbert A. Insel, instructor at New York University

School of Medicine, stated that Lifestyle modification can halt and even reverse arteriosclerosis. In other words, the healing is in your hands. We all know that heart disease doesn’t happen overnight, so there is no quick fix for the cure. However, there are four elements and all are equally important: a good quality diet, portion control, exercise and mental well-being.

a. A good quality diet. One of the first things we have to consider is our cholesterol intake. Some of the foods containing the highest amounts of cholesterol are; organ meats, eggs and dairy products. Beef kidneys and liver contain the highest amounts of cholesterol. Saturated fats can do a lot of damage to your heart and blood vessels. Vegetables – Have a variety of vegetables. Different colors, different kinds, all kinds. You can never have enough vegetables. Asparagus, kale, corn, sweet potatoes, eggplant, cauliflower, spinach, red peppers, carrots, celery, onions, and more. Include a variety of fruits from plums to melons.

b. Portion control. This is a biggie because often times heart disease is caused due in part of the pressure put on the heart by carrying excessive weight. Enjoy a variety of healthy foods, but be mindful of the amount you consume.

c. Exercise. Time to stop putting it off. Get into the habit of working it out and working it off. Work out the body and work off the illness. You don’t need an expensive gym membership. A jump rope is less than five dollars. You can practice going up and down one step. Have you ever watched the “Biggest Loser”? Often times they are exercising with items you can find around the house. You don’t have to work as excessive as they do, but you need to get going.

d. Mental well-being. Stress is equally dangerous. Find ways to exercise. Music is a biggie. A friend of mine plays nothing but “house music” when he’s working out. Find out what moves you. View getting well as a welcome journey, not an uphill battle. Your attitude is very important in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Learn To Be Grateful Writer: Carl C. Gable III, MD

Have you wondered if many of the so called luxuries that we enjoy today have made us more impatient and more ungrateful than we were thirty, twenty, or even ten years ago; before all of these wonderful inventions were made? Not long ago, I received a phone call while sitting in the airport waiting to board my flight. Though I am now ashamed to admit it, I recall telling the person who called me that I couldn’t talk long because I didn’t have my Bluetooth earpiece with me. I made this statement as if my hand was incapable of holding the phone to my ear for more than two minutes as it had done during every phone conversation I had before I purchased my Bluetooth device. A friend of mine shared with me a similar situation when he told me that he

recently became upset when the seat warmers of his car stopped working one winter morning on his way to work, leaving his rear end exposed to the sensation of cold leather for several minutes during his commute to work. Perhaps if you think long enough, you too can come up with at least one situation in which you were at least annoyed by the temporary lack of an object you have seemingly become dependent upon.

Though it is bad enough when we are ungrateful for the luxuries that we enjoy in this country, what’s far worse is when we allow our impatient and/or ungrateful attitudes-often cultivated by our abundant material possessions-to spill over into our relationships with other people. As recently as 2010, the national news told us of an angry customer at a fast food restaurant who came to blows with the restaurant staff because she couldn’t order chicken nuggets at breakfast time. Road rage is rampant. And who among us hasn’t read or heard about a heated verbal argument escalating to a violent confrontation ultimately involving a knife or a gun?

Is it possible that there is a link between our impatience with improperly working gadgets and our impatience with our fellow human beings? Compelling arguments for and against this notion can no doubt be made, but I can at least entertain the thought that people who live in third world countries, where even clean water is a scarce commodity, are on the whole more patient than those of us here in the U.S. where clean water is expected rather than hoped for. Are there fist fights in third world countries over whether or not a particular type of food is served for breakfast vs. lunch vs. dinner? It is particularly hard to develop road rage when one must walk, or at best ride a horse or camel, to every destination.

No doubt some of you have patience that rivals that of the Biblical character of Job. Some of you are very thankful for the possessions (both material and immaterial) that you have. To you, the following statements do not apply. But to those of you who are like me and need to occasionally be reminded that there once was a day when we were not as “fortunate” to have in abundance the things we enjoy today, do yourself and those around you a favor, and remember to be thankful for all that you have. Never take

Page 15: March 2012 Make It So Report

MARCH 2012 MAKE IT SO REPORT VOLUME 14

13

for granted the material possessions that you have no matter how small or insignificant they may seem to be. If you don’t live in a mansion, be thankful for the home that you do have that provides you with shelter from the cold and rain. If you don’t yet have the job that you want, be thankful for the job you do have as you work towards your goal of obtaining the one you want.

Finally, in addition to being grateful for the material possessions that you have, be especially thankful for the family and friends that you have. Disagreements between family members will happen. Feelings will be hurt and arguments will occur. But life is far too short to live in a state of constant bitterness and resentment with the ones we love. Though it’s often easier said than done, be thankful for the people in your life and as much as it is possible, live in peace with all of your fellow human beings.

ANTONIO’S CORNER Submitted by: Antonio Santiago Also on YouTube: MOTIVATION7254

“WHO IS ANTONIO SANTIAGO” Greeting to all of you that took the time out of their busy schedule to read my words in hopes that whatever I give here, you can take, think on it, and feel that tomorrow will be a better day Who am I? Is Antonio Santiago a celebrity, no? Is Antonio Santiago a rich man, no? Is Antonio Santiago from Harvard who has degrees and feel he is better than the next man, absolutely, NO! Antonio Santiago is a person who loves people. I work in a mental health unit of a hospital in Bristol, Pennsylvania, I have made friends and yes I have made enemies, but I’m there for the patients, especially the ones who get so depressed and talk about ending their life that it bothers me, these are folks with small children, grandchildren, wives and husbands that at times need a person to keep them going. My shift is from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, some of the people I work with try to slide out the door by 3:45 PM and so on, usually within that day and I work with a crew of people (8 per shift) patients will want to talk to me, no one else, they have an issue and they wish to talk to me. Now, I usually cannot drop everything I am doing right there and then, but I always tell a patient, “give me 15 minutes,” or “let me get back to you when I am finished with the person or patient I am already talking to. Usually I will clock out and come back on the unit, because I made a promise to a patient that I will talk to them. When it boils down to it people will remember you and I believe in keeping my promise and keeping my word, if I have 10 patients that wish to talk to me, those ten patients will be talked to, again, no matter how busy or if I have to punch out and come back, I will keep that promise. About 99.9% of the patients I served can attest to that, but I want to take you back and the reason I love being on the radio to inspire and motivate, you see, I call negative situations “set-backs” not “obstacles”, when I am doing my radio show on FM HDMS radio the things that I speak on are from my own experiences and how I overcame the “set-back”, and if you allow me to share at the end of this you will see why I feel GOD has made me stronger, no matter what sort of situations I have been in: *I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in July of 1971 *At 8 years old my father died, he was only 26 years old, but he had health issues. *Literally a year and a half later my 8 month old brother died from complications of brain damage. *My mother would abuse me physically and verbally, one time in a rage she whipped me with a belt, I assume she felt that wasn’t enough, so she beat me with a white curtain rod, that wasn’t enough, she beat me with a bike chain, and all I wished for was for her to say “I’m proud of you” or “I love you” *45 % of my life was with my father’s parents and the other 45% was living with my other grandmother *By time I was 18; I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, and was on prednisone (steroid) for 20 years.

*Being stressed with my ex-wife, my sugar level shot up to 792, blood pressure always was 156/132, and I had to deal with Partial Complex Seizures, the major one came to me behind the wheel of my car. *My wife left me because “the sicknesses were too hard for her to handle”, my question was “What happened to “For better or worse, richer and poorer, and SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH!” The point to all this is that GOD has something in store for me, what it is I really do not know, that’s why I joined Toastmasters International and joined FM HDMS, I want be a speaker in schools and social events and other resources where I can take my experiences and share to others that they are not alone. My favorite quote, and even I do this, but it was something I made up: “ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD AND NEVER LOOK BACK!” Thought-provoking message. God is the strength of your life. Live victoriously today. There’s a Reason Why We Don’t Keep Hippos as Pets

Submitted by Mary Daniels It was reported recently that a South African man who kept a hippo as a pet was mauled to death. As sad as this story undoubtedly is, what was this guy thinking? I know that he raised it from a young age that he saved it from death when he rescued it and that he would often swim with the creature in a nearby river. He probably considered it to be a tame animal, but it’s a hippo and they’re dangerous. No matter the circumstances, you don’t keep a hippo as a pet, or you risk eventually being mauled. Of course, this guy thought that he was the exception, not the rule. He must have thought that he could get away with it. Like the smoker who ignores the warnings from health authorities. Like the married man who “innocently” flirts in the office, thinking it will lead to nothing. Like the father who spends excessive time in the office, not with his family. Like the person who never exercises. Like the employee who floats through the day at work, hoping that no-one notices how little they contribute. Like the parent who doesn’t give their children boundaries or discipline, yet expects them to grow up into mature adults. Like the person who ignores the “God-shaped void” in their heart their whole life. Like the person who thinks that they can consistently drink and drive without any consequences. They’re all keeping hippos as pets. If any of these describe you, I would suggest doing something about it before you get mauled. Because eventually, the rule always applies

False Belief Writer: Dr. Donna Rouse Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely love music. I will listen to anything with quality, meaning, and respect. Music is one thing that connects people. From Gospel, Jazz, R and B, Alternative, classical, Contemporary and etc. There are so many messages and lessons of love and life with in music and their lyrics. One of my many favorite Artists named Stevie Wonder sings of so many life, love lessons and aspirations. One of his songs “Superstition” stays with me. I being the analytical thinker picked up on one particular line in the course. This line stated “when you believe in things you don’t understand you suffer”. Stevie may have been just referring to silly superstition. I on the other hand took it as a broad life lesson to live by. There are many things in life we as people believe in, where we fully don’t understand. But yet we continue to suffer in our decision, and the struggle of progression. So here are a few things I refuse to believe because I just do not understand. Cliques. You read it correctly, cliques. My definition of a clique is a sophisticated gang of individuals too insecure to be themselves. I am 30 years old, and I cannot understand or even fathom the thought of why adults are grouping together in cliques. I am assuming their just a group of insecure individuals who have no idea who they really are. It’s really mind boggling. I just can’t figure out why a group of 36-40+ year old adults with families to feed feel as if they have to treat others as if they are less than they are. By picking arguments, insulting, and degrading their fellow colleagues and peers. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Why waste such energy on such a petty and immature action. In High School (where cliques are more prominent) I was always sociable and cordial with everyone. I believe if you confine yourself to only one entity or in this case group of individuals, you’re limiting yourself. Why limit yourself by one group of individuals. Especially if that one group is limited in their energy, intelligence, and attitude towards others. Majority of the Republican Party. No explanation needed. Disclaimer: My personal point of view is based on viewing the previous actions, statements, and debates. I say majority because I believe there are some Republicans (Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice) who do not believe in the ideologies of the majority who are against the changes needed in this country at this very trying time. The Medias continues negative attack on African American woman. I am not buying it. I am to confident and intelligent to fall for the continuous stereotypical and ignorant labeling of African American woman.

It’s silly because we AAW (African American woman) will always rise to the occasion so why attempt to put us down with generalized statements of untruth. Since Obama has been elected it has come to my mysterious attention that the media has been on a severe defense toward AAW. There are countless articles and opinions on AAW. We are said to be statistically angry, unhealthy, and un-marriable. Is it possible that due to the dynamic fact our first lady doesn’t fit the stereotype of an angry, un-marriable, unintelligent woman? Hmmm. Yeah I think that’s a possibility. I have heard it all and am starting to laugh at this piss poor attempt of diverting attention from one of the best first ladies I have seen in my young life to discredit AAW. She is extremely intelligent, down to earth, healthy, and beautiful and guess what she’s married….to the President of the United States. Media please save it for those who don’t know any better. I am a hot commodity and an asset to this country. I know who I am and I only believe in things I completely comprehend.

Man’s Open Door Writer: Monica Hudson Ephesians 2:6-7(nlt) for he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with Him in the heavenly realms--------all because we are one with Christ Jesus. And so God can always point to us as examples of the incredible wealth of his favor and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us through Christ Jesus.

When shall man start looking for his open door to freedom, this salvation that was given and planned throughout the ages? Finding that in this key lays his freedom, a spiritual walk, and a journey to connect with the Creator of the Universe and have a relationship with the Son, which poured out his blood for man’s redemption. In the cause that man could redeem himself but only through the outpouring of love that God opened not only his heart but his conscious that man might come to understand and know God through the Holy Spirit, in this deeply united relationship can man find and except his salvation that God so freely gives and let’s man recognize his Redeemer, Christ.

Ephesians 2:9-10 (nlt) salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. In defining and describing salvation which is latin and comes from the word safe; Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin: Redemption. We find that in this new relationship we have chosen to receive this gift from God because we chose to trust Him in our everyday life with Him as our trustee. In living this relationship we receive and obey the works of the Holy Spirit that fills and teaches us the way of obedience to God. It is man’s stubbornness that blinds him to the ways of the world, forbidding him not to see the gifts and blessings of God, in this confusion man can become lost not hearing Christ at the door of his heart knocking that he might open to this salvation that is so plentifully given.

Having this personal relationship with Christ is following his character and strong conviction in who we are serving, through faith and prayer he reveals himself in our daily life’s because in this walk of salvation we have given our lives to be true to our calling. It is then up to the believer to tell of God’s love and mercy that shall bring others to this gift of salvation. Shall those who love the Lord be an instrument to be used to spread this joyous message to those blind and deaf within the world, our duty then lies to tell the Good News of what God through Christ has done for us that through this salvation Christ saved us through His blood.

Romans 10:9-10 (nlt) for if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us “Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed.*”

“THE GIANT’S WE FACE, BUT WE MUST DEFEAT” Writer: Elder D. Enoch Adams, II

A Giant is anything that STANDS between you and God’s plan for you. A Giant is anything that SEEMS bigger than you and your desire to serve the Lord. A Giant is that which is STRONGER than us and cannot be faced alone. But we cannot let these GIANTS become too strong, too overbearing, and too stressful or we will NEVER reach DESTINY! If we say we have the power to speak to EVERY giant, then why don't we USE It? We must use the power that God has given and face the giant and defeat it before it ever defeats us. What types of giants do we face? Well, the giant of DIFFICULTY, the giant of DOUBT, the giant of DIVISION and the giant of DELAY. First the things in our lives are not difficult we make them. Things are not stressful, but we make them. Things are not hard, but we make them.

Only because we lack ONE thing and that is FAITH! If we had the faith we claim we have, we would not be leaving ministries, leaving jobs, disconnecting from friends & family but we would set an example for others to see what TRUE faith is. Secondly, we should not doubt God, because He never doubts us. We should not doubt others because we doubt ourselves. In the body of Christ we need to be more confident and less depressed. We should never give others compliments because we want one back. We should give them and recognize we are not jealous of what they have, what they are wearing, what they live in and to whom they are married. Never let others see a different side of you unless that is what you give at all times. If we do not encourage ourselves and build up our self-esteem, then we will be miserable forever. Let us be confident in all things: ministry, the work place, the community and LIFE. Doubt causes division. If we all cannot be unified, what is the purpose of calling each other brothers and sisters? We must stand together, build up and celebrate each other to become better people. Lastly, God does not forget us. Sometimes He delays our blessings because of how we act, how we live and how we treat others. Many times we delay ourselves and then blame God. If we do what He says, live right and allow God to be God, then we would not have to wait on our blessings. The giants seem big but they are not. We make them big and let them build up. Therefore, before we face the giants, we must face the first giant, which is, US! How can we overcome these giants? First, pray about it and about everything. Second, stay in your word and apply it to your everyday life. Third, help others with their giants, only if it’s a giant that you have overcome. Finally, know that God’s promises are true and things will come to pass in God's timing. Remember this quote: Giants don’t go away; they have to be faced and defeated!

Sincere’s Corner – Relationship Tips From the heart Writer: Irene Council

• Stop responding to that person you swore you cut-off last year. The familiar is always more comfortable than the unfamiliar. But take a risk because the "Present" is a "Gift" that needs to be unwrapped, while the past is just that...the past!

• Never pass up the opportunity to apologize to your mate when something went wrong or was said out of anger. Silence can cause a great gap in your relationship that could have easily been avoided by one word, "sorry"...

• Please know that you can't fake happiness and you shouldn't have to.

Don’t let this "microwave society" makes you feel like waiting for the "right one" is a waste. You and only you have to live with YOUR decision, so don’t regret it. Take your time and choose wisely!

• What you see in the beginning of the relationship is often an indicator of what you'll get during the relationship. And in marriage, it magnifies by ten! So pay close attention to the "red" flags, the "yellow" flags" and the "No" flags!

• Anger towards your "ex" will transfer to anger towards the "next"...forgiveness is not only for them, but mainly for you!

• He may not be the total recipe you want him to be right now, but you could be that added ingredient that completes the whole dish. If you have someone who is full of potential, support him, nurture him and pray for him. Your presence may be just what the recipe called for! But you must recognize potential, be wise!

• It is totally ok to trust that God has that perfect mate for you. That is not to say, "They" will be perfect, just perfect for "you" and all your craziness! Oh yeah, they're out there prepared only by God!

• It’s not fair for you to think your mate can read your mind, even a well-educated physician asks you, "So, what's wrong, what brings you in today?"... Communication is oxygen to any relationship and once that's gone, death is soon to follow!

MY TRIBUTE TO WHITNEY HOUSTON By: Mary Daniels "Rest in peace" (Latin: Requiescat in pace) is a short epitaph or idiomatic expression wishing eternal rest and peace to someone who has died. The expression typically appears on headstones, often abbreviated as "RIP". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rest_in_peace (for history) Several months ago, while scanning my prayer list, the Holy Spirit led me to add Whitney, Oprah, Dionne and other entertainers to my list. As much as I have admired them and have sporadically prayed for them upon hearing negative reports, this was to be consistent. They were to be added to my “daily” list: President/elected officials, ministers, missionaries, family, friends, co-workers, and the “down and outers”. It NEVER dawned on me to cover them (rich and famous) daily. Is it because we think they have everything and don’t need OUR prayers? Then I remembered how our Lord reached out to the UP and OUTERS as well. With every elevation in life, there is greater responsibility; more temptations and lots of opposition – in the natural and the spiritual – believer or non-believer. Sat., Feb.11th, while walking from my car, the Holy Spirit reminded me, “you forgot to pray for Whitney this morning” and I immediately began to pray, “Lord draw her to yourself, be WITH Whitney right now” – that’s all I remember. That evening I heard of her death, the time was 2 hours after my short prayer for her. S U R R E A L I was surprised at my pain. I loved Whitney’s voice and enjoyed many of her songs, but I had never purchased her music. Dionne was my exemplar; I have all of her LP’s (pre-CD era). Why did Whitney’s death devastate me? A close friend stated, “Mary it’s because God laid her on your heart. You become bonded to those you intercede for.” Some questioned the use of R.I.P. I thought about it as a cliché like “have a happy day”. I believe the expression reflects the “heart’s desire” of the well-wisher who understands that only God knows a person’s heart and their relationship with Him. What should we say? Luke 10:5 – “Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say “May God’s peace be on this home” We are to continually speak peace over others and to say good things about them as well as “love our enemies.” In I Corinthians 13 it says: love doesn’t keep score of wrongs, its kind, and patient, does not envy or boast, bears all things…. It (love) never fails. Another verse says, “Love covers a multitude of sins,” it does not expose (I Peter 4:8) And remember, "Real" love chastens/confronts but not to destroy but to heal (Gal 6:1). Whitney told Diane Sawyer (2002), “I am my own Worst Enemy”. She didn’t pass the buck to the Devil or anyone else, she acknowledged her weaknesses. Prov. 28:13 “He who conceals his sin does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy”. Her pain and struggle was seen year after year by millions. Some wrote her off, but God never did. His Word reminds us, “there is none righteous, no not one” (Rom 3:10) and we read of Paul’s Dichotomy - “…but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members” Paul continues to say, “when I want to do good, evil is right

22

there with me” (Rom. 7:21-25) We ALL understand that passage for we all have weaknesses that could, but for His grace, destroy us or others. Only two more days to live, Whitney appears at Kelly Price’s pre-Grammy party and out of a full repertoire, the song on her heart was “Yes, Jesus Loves Me”. It didn’t matter who was in the room or what they thought. Kelly joined in. Afterwards, they embraced, Whitney stepped aside and gave her “signature wave” ( arms lifted, hands opening and closing) took a few steps off the stage, glanced back once with a beautiful/peaceful smile and walked away. I played that video over and over - looking at that smile. She seemed satisfied, as though her mission was accomplished. “Yes, Jesus Love Me” was Whitney’s Swan Song to the world. What about the ERRATIC behavior? She reportedly did handstands near the pool. I’ve had the bitter-sweet privilege of spending hours with people in their last days; so many times their behavior is sudden spurts of energy or miraculous recovery for few hours. But their life is draining, like a toy with a dying battery. Her behavior reminds me of the wild behavior of a child resisting sleep that he/she really needs and wants. The parent picks the child up and he/she falls asleep instantly. In those last days she had told a friend, “I am tired” and others “I want to see my Jesus”. Tired of everything that goes with fame: ups and downs, betrayals, false friends, fears (am I pretty enough, good enough, smart enough?) and co-dependencies on things and/or people. Her handstand said, “Look I am STILL here” but there probably was a premonition that something is happening, something “I’ve NEVER experienced before. I am on my way to a different and unfamiliar stage but I’ve been in touch with the Producer.” Throughout the struggles of her years, she kept her Bible with her and used it as demonstrated by the colored passages and worn pages. She had on-going fellowship with those she knew stayed connected to the Lord and according to testimonies; she knew how to pray and always included the Lord in her conversation. She did not allow her confessed sins and/or exposed weaknesses to destroy her hope or “silence” her praise. Yes Jesus Loves Me http://youtu.be/uHm9Ggdanyo Now it was time for the final curtain call. She enters her suite, spoke with her Mom and Dionne by phone; ate her beloved hamburger and fries; took the turkey sandwich in the bathroom. Her entourage remained in the suite. No lights, cameras, stage or crowds. Now, it was just Whitney and her Lord. God calls her…… W H I T N E Y!! Whitney: Yes Lord. GOD: I know you are tired, I’ve seen your struggle, your tears, fears, confusion and wandering. It’s time to come home. Whitney: Lord, I am afraid, I am not good enough. GOD: You are right, no one is good enough, that’s why I sent my son, Jesus. Whitney: Lord I have always known Jesus loves me and I told the people. GOD: Yes, Whitney, that’s what I wanted you to do, many of them love you and they needed to hear that message from your mouth. It was important for them to understand that I have and will always love them as well. Whitney: Thank you Lord, I am so glad you never left me. GOD: Whitney, I promised that I would always be with you. Let’s Go Home. Whitney: “YES LORD” P.S. Those who viewed her body mentioned a smile on her face. He calls YOU and me to REST – while we are STILL alive. But we, like confused children, run around in circles fighting the tiredness that has our eyelids heavy. Just COME. Matt. 11:28 “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” ON THIS DAY (Ash Wednesday) remember Two thieves hung on the cross (Jesus in the middle), one was arrogant and the other was full of remorse and asked one question, Jesus “will you remember me?” Jesus said “This day will you be with me in Paradise” Luke 23:43 PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR HER MOTHER, DAUGHTER, DIONNE AND ENTIRE FAMILY.

Dylan Ratigan of MSNBC is an Asshole Writer: Sidney Weston

Let me start off by saying Dylan Ratigan is an asshole. I just wanted to get that off my chest but let me tell you why. In 2010, the Supreme Court passed a decision that Super Pacs which are non-candidate political committees can receive and spend unlimited money raised from special interests groups, in other words, from corporations as well as wealthy individuals. Ratigan was talking on his show on February 7, 2012, that the President should right a bill to have transparency in Super Pacs. He suggested that the President should do it today and send it up the hill to be passed. Is he on crack?

The President came in to office with a mission to limit special interest groups and lobbyist when he put into effect ethics reforms to slam the door on government and lobbyists doing business in Washington. He has the most open administration ever. .According to Jim Messina, President Obama’s campaign manager, in his blog today he said “the President opposed the Citizens United decision. He understood that with the dramatic growth in opportunities to raise and spend unlimited special-interest money, we would see new strategies to hide it from public view. He continues to support a law to force full disclosure of all funding intended to influence our elections, a reform that was blocked in 2010 by a unanimous Republican filibuster in the U.S. Senate. And the President favors action—by constitutional amendment, if necessary—to place reasonable limits on all such spending.”

Mr. Ratigan, the president is concentrating on getting American citizens back to work. Now if he stops that to concentrate on sending up a new bill to have more transparency you (Ratigan) and the republicans will be screaming about that the President is not doing enough to bring the economy back around, he’s too busy campaigning. The President can’t win for losing. The President said that he supports an amendment for transparency. Super Pacs are not going away this campaign cycle, and the Republicans raising millions of dollars to destroy their opponents with negative campaign ads, the President is leveling the playing field. So, people like Ratigan would like the President to sit down and draft a bill that will be kicked around on the Hill and in Congress and will never pass would be a waste of time. The rules are what they are and I agree that the President should use it to his advantage. We are going to do whatever it takes to re-elect President Obama for a second term according to the laws.

Now Mr. Ratigan if you have all the solutions and the know how to do everything right, why don’t your ass run for President and see what you can do. It is so easy to be a sideline quarterback until you are really in the game. Week after week you have so much to say on your television show on what the President should be doing, and all he is, is talk. Mr. Ratigan where was all this rhetoric when the Bush administration for 8 years was destroying and dismantling laws to destroy the American economy, where was all of your mouth when banks comprised toxic mortgages and loans and sold them to unsuspecting investors which finally imploded into a mortgage meltdown. Where is your mouth when republicans are constantly throwing shit in the game to destroy this President and all of his efforts? It’s people like you who spout all this rhetoric but have no balls to get into the game. Yes, this is a game, a

political game where everyone is making up their own rules now because they don’t like the Quarterback. Throw your hat into the political ring and put your money where your mouth is coward!

An article came out in “The Hill” on February 8, 2012, claiming the angriest anchorman on television 39 year old Dylan Ratigan has turned over a new leaf. Ratigan claims Deepak Chupra has been a tremendous help on diminishing his big ego. Puhleeeeese. He’s just a self absorbed, opinionated asshole and I’m not the only one who thinks that way about him. Kirinbeer96701 and 1,562 people agree with me after reading today’s article also share some of the same sentiments. To quote Kirinbeer96701 who commented on the article says “He's a pompous ass, zen or not. His 'new persona' as populist savior; trashing and gutting all and sundry as he swoops in to rescue the day attests to the large cranium and his inflated self image. He is still an angry and disrespectful bore who while denigrating the president hasn’t the guts to call conservatives on their lies when they speak to him live. He's only 39? Is he going to give that 60 year old back his face soon?” If it sounds like I’m picking on Dylan Ratigan, I am.

Recipe of the Month

Allen’s Collard Green Special

INGRIEDIENTS:

One bag of cut collard greens (or if you feel like washing, cleaning and cutting fresh greens do so!). Two smoked turkey knobs (small part)

One can of cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup. One tablespoon of mustard.

Salt and pepper to taste. One teaspoon of sugar. One teaspoon of hot sauce

One whole onion diced. Two tablespoon of parsley flakes. One teaspoon of Italian seasoning.

One cup of red wine

DIRECTIONS:

In large sauce pan fill half-full of water. Add turkey knobs. Bring to a boil. Let boil for about 10-15 minutes. Add mustard, onions, parsley flakes, Italian seasons, salt & pepper, sugar, hot sauce, and red wine. Add can of cream of chicken or mushroom soup. Add greens.

Reduce heat and cook for about 45 minutes or until the greens are tender. Continue cooking until much of the liquid has evaporated. Best served the next day when all the favor has seeped through greens. ENJOY!
