A healthy mind/body/spirit connection is critical togetting the most out of life at any age. As we age, however, this connection becomes even more important.

A study conducted in 1999 for AARP indicated thatmore than 90% of surveyed adults aged 50 and olderplanned to continue learning as they age. When askedwhy, respondents indicated they wanted to keep up withwhat’s going on in the world and continue their personaland spiritual growth and experience the fun of learningsomething new.

Research has proved that a stimulated mind promotes ahealthy brain and helps elders retain mental alertnessas they age.

Many older adults participate in lifelong learningprograms for the social aspects as much as for thelearning experience.

Making lifelong learning part of the later years fostersa sense of personal empowerment and increased self-esteem. It ensures continued growth and intellectualstimulation, leading to a more fulfilling, enjoyable, andenriched lifestyle. Vitally important to enhanced qualityof life, it helps develop natural abilities, immerses in thewonders of life, stimulates natural curiosity about theworld, increases wisdom, enables individuals to use theirexperiences to make the world a better place, and helpsthem face the inevitable changes in society. Daily use ofthis health club for the mind, body, and spirit helpsensure a rich and fulfilling third age.
