Please use your envelope if you are going to one of the area churches. You can also do your tithing electronic. This can be by electronic check payment from your bank or by ACH through the parish office. This is an easy way to make your donations on a recurring basis and save St. Mary the expense of sending tithing envelopes. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Diocesan Policy: Report and Inform

The Diocese of Evansville has in place a policy that requires that

any allegation of child abuse must be reported to civil authorities.

If an allegation involves the sexual abuse of a minor by diocesan

personnel, the Victims Assistance Coordinator must also be in-

formed.

Sexual misconduct violates human dignity and the mission of the

church. The spiritual well-being of all victims, their families, and

others in the community is of particular concern to the church.

Report child abuse:

Every allegation of child abuse must be reported to Child Protection

Services, an agency of Indiana state government.

CPS Toll-free: (800) 800-5556 Local law enforcement: 9-1-1

Report and inform:

In the event of an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor (a person

under 18) by diocesan personnel, report the allegation to authori-

ties, and inform the Victims Assistance Coordinator for the dio-

cese: Toll-free: (866) 200-3004 Local: (812) 490-9565

Quilt Teams: If you are currently on a quilt team, send your

$35 to your team leader or bring to the parish office. We could

use some additional people to be on teams. Please consider

being on a team - you do not have to quilt. It takes 10 people on

a team to have enough money to put a quilt together.

Theme Baskets: We are needing Theme Baskets with a value of

$40+. Some ideas are: Car Care Basket, Game Basket, Movie

Night Basket, Baking Basket, Homemade Jelly Basket, etc.

Surprise Bags: New items $.25 to $5 are needed. Toys, games,

summer clearance items, etc. Drop these off at the parish office

or in the container in the back of church.

Country Store: Homemade/Handmade items are always need-

ed. Keep the parish in mind when you make jelly, salsa, relish,

rugs, etc. The homemade/handmade items are big sellers.

Being a foster parent is not easy, but the difference it makes in the com-

munity and in the life of a child is well worth it. In addition to becom-

ing a foster parent, there are many other ways to be part of the solution.

The Evansville Diocese Office of Family & Life has more information

on this project on its website at: http://www.evdio.org/family-life.html.

If you are interested or feel you may be called to be a foster family or

related ministry, you can email Eric Girten at [email protected] or get

directly involved at https://www.in.gov/dcs/fostercar.htm.

Dear Parishioners,

I have the opportunity to continue my education at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. This is a Benedictine community, so I’ll feel right at home. That is, until winter comes. After 2 years, I will have a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music. It has been a joy to accompany for your Masses and to be a part of this community. My last Mass will be August 4. Let us pray for one another. Sr. Catherine Duenne

July 21, 2019 - 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Active and contemplative. At work and at rest. These are dynam-ics we all face in our lives, and if we're honest, we might not al-ways balance perfectly! In this Sunday's Gospel, our daily ten-sions play out in two sisters. Mary "sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak." Martha, on the other hand, is "burdened with much serving." This, as it turns out, is not necessarily "the better part."

All of us reading this have some sort of labor we engage in. We have different trades or careers. We have responsibilities as fam-ily members, some of which may take up most of our time. In the time of Scripture, showing hospitality to guests was one of the most important values in society. Our work is important. Jesus himself spent decades as a carpenter. So what's the problem with Martha? Martha is burdened, anxious, and worried. Not only that, but she resents her sister's choice. "Tell her to help me," she demands of Jesus.

How easy it is to get very busy doing good things. We need to provide for our families and plan for retirement. We need to make sure children are clothed, fed, and educated. Our committees, ministries, and sports schedules need to stay on track. However, without a balance of work with rest, without contemplation in the midst of our action, we will miss the point. While many parts are required for our life in the world to function, the better part is our relationship with God. This week, make time in your busy sched-ule to sit at Jesus' feet. Maybe this is 20 minutes with Scripture, participating in a daily Mass, or a quiet walk alone in the park. Receive what Christ wants to speak to you.

Holy Trinity Catholic School Class of 2020 is having a mum fundraiser to help offset the cost of their class trip to Washington D.C. in the spring of 2020. Mums are available in a variety of colors - bronze, coral, red, purple, white and yellow. The mums come in 8 1/2” pots at a price for $10/mum. Flower pick-up will be held on Friday, September 20 at the East Campus. Call 812-482-4485 for more information.
