Refer to NC Cardinal MARC Templates for specific instructions based on type of material. The OCLC

record is assumed to have been imported.

The following tags MUST be present

ALL

008 \\ Must be present to allow changes in fixed fields.

010 \\ LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number). Format: an alphabetic prefix or two blank

spaces, 4-digit year, and a 6-digit zero-filled sequential number.

020 \\ ISBN.

● Add 13-digit ISBN if missing

● Remove tags for non-matching formats such as e-books, audiobooks, or large print

● Add q subfield as needed for format

035 \\ OCLC number.

082 04 Call number as it appears in OCLC record.

100 1\ Author when applicable; editors do not belong in 100-tag.

245 1# Add h subfields when needed using wording specified in NC Cardinal MARC Templates.

# for nonfiling indicators: “A” = 2, “An” = 3, “The” = 4

264 \1 Add if missing, even if 260 tag is already there.

● Subfield a = place of publication

● Subfield b = publisher name

● Subfield c = date of publication

● Subfield a = series title

250 \\ Only used for numbered or special editions.
