1/2P News Flash Term 1 has been an exciting and busy term so far. This term we have been working hard in class with our Literacy, reading groups, creative art and Numeracy work.
Students are settling into class routines and learning to work as a team.
Our PBL focus has been making positive choices and learning about our values.
We thank all parents, guardians, nans and pops for their help with costumes for our first school assembly with cattle judging clothes, karate clothes and PBL clothes.
Students are learning new concepts, enjoying fitness, sport- cricket skills, Science and having fun.
Every day is a magical day with 1/2P!

Regional Swimming
Congratulations to Hayden, Sophie and Lucas who represented Maitland Zone at the Regional Swimming Carnival on Tuesday. All swam well, with some PB times achieved.
Cattle Judging
Our cattle judging team have been very busy. Last week at Newcastle Show one of our teams (Tess, Ava, and Aidan) placed third in the team judging. They are competing today at Gresford Show. Thanks again to Mark Watts and Kristy Banister for working with our team to support such a successful program.
STEAM Day
On Friday, 5th April (week 10), we will be holding our first Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) day for students. We will have 7 or 8 activities/challenges running across the day and students will be able to choose one each session. Our CSIRO STEM professionals in schools partner, Frank Williams, will be facilitating one of our challenges. Examples could include a computer coding challenge, straw rocket construction and launching, bridge building, design challenges, and many more. We would love any interested families to participate in this day, even if just for one session, either to run an activity or assist one of the teachers. If you can help, please contact the office.
National Day of Action Against Bullying
On Friday, 15th March, our school will participate in an awareness program for the National Day of Action Against Bullying. Lessons will be taught in class and students will engage in discussion and activities related to the prevention of bullying. Please find attached to this newsletter some information about how to support your child if they report any bullying to you.
Communication About Learning Survey
So far we have 17 responses to our survey. We are very interested to hear your feedback on how we communicate about learning. Please complete a very short survey online to start the evaluation process. This survey will be open until the end of term. You can either type the link below, or go to our Facebook page and click on the link in the survey post.

Mother’s Day Stall Volunteers Required
So far we have no volunteers who have come forward to help us out with the Mother’s Day Stall. We are
seeking some Dads, Grandads or male carers to help out with a Mother’s Day Breakfast and stall on Friday,
10th May. The plan is to start at approximately 8am with a breakfast along the same lines as the Father’s Day
breakfast but with a different menu. If you are able to help with co-ordinating this event, please return the
tear off slip on this newsletter.

Canteen News
Just a quick note from Canteen to let families
know that we have had a large number of
foreign coins used by the kids in canteen.
These coins can't be banked by the P & C.
Could you please ensure that the kids aren't
bringing any foreign currency for spending in
canteen!
We would also like to let families know that
canteen will no longer be handing out ‘free
food’ at the end of lunch or recess. In the
past we have allowed this in the interests of
minimising food wastage, however we are
instead working with our volunteers to make
sure that the kids have plenty of food to
purchase and that minimal food is wasted.
Thanks for your support of our P&C canteen!
Regards, Leah
Good Luck Tayla!
Congratulations to Tayla Norley on qualifying for both the 80cm and 90cm jumping at the NSW Interschool Championships. We wish Tayla all the best when she will be competing at Sydney International Equestrian Centre on the 10th, 11th and 12th March.

March 2019
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Paterson Public School P & C understand that everyone’s lives are very busy and that families are often
stretched financially throughout the year.
We do however acknowledge that our School is always in need of additional funds to help purchase
resources to ensure our beautiful little School stays relevant and provides our children with the
resources they need to receive a quality education.
Therefore we try and limit the amount of fundraising activities we do throughout the year to ensure
our families are not stretched financially or for time whilst also raising as much money for our School
as possible.
Every year Paterson Public School P & C run a raffle at Steamfest and stall at Tocal Field Days. This is
our Schools major fundraiser and in the past has raised over $15,000.00 with some of these proceeds
used to purchase new ipads and computers for our school.
This fundraiser is a massive undertaking but is lots of fun and is a great way to catch up with the other
parents whilst also helping our School. All we ask from our families is some of their time.
We will send out more detailed notes within the next couple of weeks but in the meantime we ask that
you please complete the back of this form and return to the School to help us get started with
our planning.
We appreciate as little or as much help you can offer. If you have any friends or family that might be
able to help out we will not say no.
The more helpers we get the less work load everyone has to do. It is a big undertaking but it is only for
a few days of our lives and in the end the money we raise goes toward the education of ALL OF OUR
CHILDREN.
PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM ON THE BACK OF THIS LETTER AND RETURN TO THE
SCHOOL ASAP.

STEAMFEST
Please don’t be scared by the idea of selling raffle tickets. We DO NOT ask you to hassle people as they walk past. We set up the buggy and a table and honestly the buggy itself sells the tickets. You just have to be there to help write the names on the tickets and take the money. We require at least 2 people on each shift and will also require a trailer to take the buggy to and from Steamfest both days.
Please tick where you think you might be able to help out.
TOCAL FIELD DAYS
If you can help out for one full day that would be awesome but we understand that this is not always possible. Our busiest time is obviously lunch time and requires quite a lot of helpers.
Would you be able to donate home-baked cakes / slices? yes / no
Which day/days can you provide cakes/slices? Fri / Sat / Sun
If you have a preference for where you work, please indicate below:
Hot food tent / cake tent / sandwich prep at school / drinks trailer / raffle
I am interested in helping the committee with organising yes / no
I am interested in joining the Tocal Committee yes / no
