The Chofetz Chaim had tremendous Bitachon and viewed every single occurrence as a lesson for Avodas Hashem. Every event had clear meaning to him and he was able to view its affects on the Yidden as a whole.

One Shabbos, it was dark in the Chofetz Chaim’s house due to the fact that someone had forgotten to switch on the light. The Chofetz Chaim began his shmeuss with the introduction that in his house there is electricity but someone just forgot to turn on one switch, likewise in every corner of the world there is the light of the Holy Sechinah and we must prepare ourselves to be able to turn of the switch and absorb the light of the Sechinah.

The Chofetz Chaim once went on a trip with one of his Talmidim. Upon arriving at their destination, the Talmid paid the wagon driver. The Talmid noted that the Chofetz Chaim was not pleased with the way he had paid. The Talmid clarified that he had paid far more than the regular price so the Chofetz Chaim explained that his displeasure stemmed from a different reason. He said, “Do you know how many Mitzvos you have just fulfilled? When one pays someone on time, a Mitzvah has been fulfilled. The wagon driver is a pauper so another Mitzvah has been fulfilled.” The Chofetz Chaim then enumerated other Mitzvos and ended by saying to his Talmid, “And you just paid him right away without even thinking about it before?”

Spinach is a nutritional powerhouse and tastes good, too. “Spinach is exceptionally good for you,” said certified nutritionist Jo Schrubbe of Beulah. “It’s literally overflowing with nutrients, minerals and antioxidants, with significant levels of iron, calcium, vitamin C as well as vitamin A for eye health and vitamin K for maintaining healthy bones.

Spinach is one of nature’s best all-round nutrient providers.” Fresh spinach is great for salads, can sub for lettuce in a sandwich and can be included in “green” smoothies along with more traditional ingredients like banana and yogurt.

“The bright green color of spinach makes it a wonderful source of antioxidants,” Schrubbe wrote.

As good as it is, spinach can be “tricky” for some people, Schrubbe said. That’s because it contains goitrogens, oxalates and purine, which are naturally occurring substances.

Goitrogens can interfere with thyroid-gland functioning, although cooking helps to deactivate goitrogenic compounds.

Schrubbe said

the risk to people with thyroid problems isn’t fully known.

If oxalates become overly concentrated in body fluids, they can crystallize and cause kidney

and gall bladder problems. Again, light steaming or cooking reduces oxalic acid, she said.

Eating an excessive amount of spinach can lead to an

accumulation of uric acid in the body from the purine - to those

pre disposed to gout, Schrubbe said, and gout and kidney stones from uric acid are two of the problems that can result.

Cooking spinach can reduce the levels of vitamin C and other nutrients but doesn’t get rid of them completely.

• Olive oil or coconut oil

• Tear free baby shampoo

• Water

Directions:1. Pour 1/2 tablespoon of baby shampoo into jar

2. Add 1/4 teaspoon olive oil or coconut oil

3. Pour in enough water to completely fill the jar

4. Put a lid on jar and shake it thoroughly

5. Add your own label and it’s ready to use

6. As with any makeup remover, always shake the liquid before use.

7. Store at room temperature in the bathroom or beauty closet.

While most birds are seen in the sky, there is only one bird that can actually live its entire life without ever having to touch the ground. It’s called the Common Swift, and it is a medium sized bird which, has the ability the never need to touch the ground.

Swifts fly at least 560 miles per day during the nesting season.

These birds stay in flight night and day, hot or cold, rain or shine. In fact, the entire first two or three years of their lives are usually spent in the air!

They have a short tail in a slight fork shape and extremely long wings that resemble a boomerang and allow them to stay aloft for such lengthy periods of time. They usually live around 20 years and are known to be rather intelligent birds. The longest documented life of a Common Swift is 21 years and was estimated to have flown around 3 million miles!
