WELCOME
No matter what your present status in the Catholic Church,
No matter what your current family or marital situation,
No matter what your past or present religious affiliation,
No matter what your personal history, background,
race or other,
No matter what your own self-image or esteem,
You are Invited, Welcomed, Accepted,
Loved and Respected,
Here at Our Lady of La Salette and
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Monthly Prayer Intentions…
During the month of March our prayers are devoted to
those that have no one to help when they are in need.
Many times, families have broken down communication
with relatives or friends because of their own hectic
schedules and lives. Let us pray this month for those that
are forgotten and keep them in our mind and prayers.
Just being there to share a cup of tea, a conversation or
a lending hand can warm those who feel neglected. Je-
sus taught us compassion and mercy, so pause to mend
that broken wing- for one never knows, you may need
someone to lift you from your loneliness one day.
The Legend of Saint Patrick and the Shamrock
Long ago, a great Bishop named Patrick came to Ireland
to share God’s word with the Irish people. One day, a
group of his followers came to him and explained they
were having difficulty understanding and believing the
doctrine of the Holy Trinity. After a moment’s reflection,
Patrick knelt down and picked one of the many sham-
rocks growing nearby. He used the shamrocks living ex-
ample of “Three-in-One” to describe the Father, Son and
the Holy Spirit. Patrick’s listeners were enlightened by the
wisdom and simple beauty of his explanation, and the
shamrock has been a sacred symbol ever since.
Faith and Reason Workshop…
The Diocesan School Office and the Office of Faith Events
will present a workshop for our youth and young adults on
how to address the mistruths about Science and God. This
series is meant to augment existing religious education
and confirmation programs and focuses on the issues that
are causing a growing number of young people to aban-
don religion. It will be held on March 16, 2020 at Mercy
High School in Middletown, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm or
6:30 – 9:00 pm. RSVP by March 10
th

Annual Catholic Appeal...
Recently many of you received a letter and brochure de-
scribing the many programs and ministries of our Diocesan
Church that benefits from the Annual Catholic Appeal.
(Additional pledge envelopes and brochures are located
at the entrances of the church.) As members of one family
of faith, God calls each of us to be generous in thought,
word, and deed. Please consider your many blessings and
prayerfully respond by returning your gift/pledge to our
parish in the collection basket NEXT weekend for the ACA
“One Faith, One Family” Commitment weekend. Your sup-
port is much needed and greatly appreciated.
You are invited…

you to a Taize Prayer experience. The Third Sunday of
Lent, come and rest a while on March 15
th

Bread will be welcomed. For those of you who have not
previously had this experience, Taize Prayer is an ecu-
menical sung and silent participatory prayer service de-
signed to achieve a contemplative state through music,
song and silence.
Family Formation Workshop...
What is Family Formation? How do you implement it in a
parish? Who are the people involved in Family Formation?
What resources are needed or used for Family Formation?
How does it help our families? The answers to all these
questions will be explained at” The Family Formation Work-
shop” held on Thursday, March 19 from 9am – 12 noon at

Lenten Confessions...
Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret, Ct will offer the opportunity
for Lenten confessions on Friday, March 20 from noon to
8:00 pm. The church is located at the intersection of Rt.

for Easter.
Pope Francis’ Words
Do you want to fast this Lent?
Fast from hurting words... and say kind words.
Fast from sadness... and be filled with gratitude.
Fast from anger... and be filled with patience.
Fast from pessimism... and be filled with hope
Fast from worries...and trust in God.
Fast from complaints...and contemplate simplicity.
Fast from pressures... and be prayerful.
Fast from bitterness... and fill your heart with joy.
Fast from selfishness.... and be compassionate to others.
Fast from grudged...and be reconciled.
Fast from words... and be silent so you can listen.
