Underliner Installation: After excavation is complete remove any obvious sharp objects like tree roots or

stones and then cover the entire excavated area with the underliner.

Unfold the underliner and lay it inside the pond starting from the deepest point

and working your way out of the pond.

Allow the underliner to cover all of the flat areas as well as the vertical sides.

Overlap as necessary to prevent areas where no underliner exists.

When you are finished the entire excavated area should be covered with

underliner. Once this is completed you are ready for the pond liner to be installed.

Pond Liner Installation: Once the underliner is in place it’s time to install the pond liner.

Carefully unfold and position the rubber liner. Don’t allow the rubber to stretch. Just let it wrinkle and pleat naturally to fit the contours of the pond.

Always start from the bottom and work your way upward, allowing the liner to slip freely into the pond.

Fill the pond with water and run the pump to see if there are any low areas that need to be fixed where water is escaping.

Then trim both the pond liner and the underliner with sharp scissors or utility knife. Leave a 12” margin of rubber, fold it under, and bury it at the pond edge with stone or mulch. Leaving some extra liner around the edge will allow you to fix any leak issues should the perimeter settle in the future.
