Introduction
The DX Engineering DXE-VRW-1 is a manual winch add-on kit for the High Performance DX
Engineering vertical antennas using the Heavy Duty Pivot Base. Models included are:
DXE-7580VA-1, DXE-8040VA-1, DXE-7580FS-VA-2 and DXE-7580FS-VA-3
The heavy duty pivoting fixtures for these antennas are equipped to accept the winch directly.
Allows easy one-person raising and lowering of tall antennas - may be easily moved from one
compatible DX Engineering antenna to another in multi-antenna arrays.
The DXE-VRW-1 winch kit is supplied complete with a 15 foot Polyester web strap with hook, and
base mounting hardware.

Note: UMI-81343 Never-Seez or DXE-NSBT8 Anti-Seize should be used on all clamps, bolts and
stainless steel threaded hardware to prevent galling and to ensure proper tightening.
As supplied, the winch has hardware that is not used. The wire cable retainer with screw and keps
nut are not used. The 3/8" x 2-1/2"" long bolt and 3/8-16 hex nut are not used.
The 3/4" nut and spring supplied with the winch are used.
Additional hardware that is required is supplied:
Three 3/8-16 x 1-3/8" long Stainless Steel Hex Head Cap Screws
Eight 3/8" Stainless Steel Flat Washers
Four 3/8-16 Stainless Steel Nyloc Nuts
One 3/8-16 x 3-1/2" long Grade 8 Hex Head Cap Screw
One 2" x 15 ft long Polyester web strap with hoop and hook

Assembly
1. The winch handle is screwed onto the winch followed by the spring and nut as shown below.
2. Use a 3/4" wrench and tighten the nut. The threads on the winch are tapered, so the nut will stop
prior to running out of threads in the winch.
3. The 2 in x 15 ft long Polyester web strap with hoop and hook is mounted to the winch using the
3/8-16 x 3-1/2" long Grade 8 Hex Head Cap Screw, two 3/8" Stainless Steel Flat Washers and
one 3/8-16 Stainless Steel Nyloc Nut. Insert the Hex Head Bolt through the loop in the strap as
shown below.

4. Once the strap and hardware are installed, tighten the 3/8-16 Stainless Steel Nyloc Nut using a
9/16" wrench or socket and ratchet until the flat washers are just snug to the winch. Do not over
tighten.
Tighten just snug enough to have washer flush to winch.
5. Wind up the web strap onto the winch.
6. Extra hardware is included for mounting the DXE-VRW-1 Winch to the High Performance DX
Engineering vertical antennas..

The pictures below show the DXE-VRW-1 Winch mounted on a High Performance
DX Engineering DXE-8040VA-1 80 and 40 meter dual-band vertical antenna.
DANGER: Make sure you have not inadvertently located the
antenna underneath power lines.
Residential power lines are often less than 40' high.
Contact With Any Power or Utility Lines Can Be Lethal !

Always stand off to the side when raising or lowering the antenna as shown below.
Do not stand directly behind the winch.
If the strap is worn and fails, it may whip back and cause injury.
Keep all liquids, dirt or chemicals away from the web strap to avoid unseen damage.
Always replace a worn, cut, nicked or damaged strap before using.

Warranty
All products manufactured by DX Engineering are warranted to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of shipment. DX Engineering’s sole obligation under
these warranties shall be to issue credit, repair or replace any item or part thereof which is proved to be other
than as warranted; no allowance shall be made for any labor charges of Buyer for replacement of parts,
adjustment or repairs, or any other work, unless such charges are authorized in advance by DX Engineering.
If DX Engineering’s products are claimed to be defective in material or workmanship, DX Engineering shall,
upon prompt notice thereof, issue shipping instructions for return to DX Engineering (transportation-charges
prepaid by Buyer). Every such claim for breach of these warranties shall be deemed to be waived by Buyer
unless made in writing. The above warranties shall not extend to any products or parts thereof which have
been subjected to any misuse or neglect, damaged by accident, rendered defective by reason of improper
installation, damaged from severe weather including floods, or abnormal environmental conditions such as
prolonged exposure to corrosives or power surges, or by the performance of repairs or alterations outside of
our plant, and shall not apply to any goods or parts thereof furnished by Buyer or acquired from others at
Buyer’s specifications. In addition, DX Engineering’s warranties do not extend to other equipment and parts
manufactured by others except to the extent of the original manufacturer’s warranty to DX Engineering. The
obligations under the foregoing warranties are limited to the precise terms thereof. These warranties provide
exclusive remedies, expressly in lieu of all other remedies including claims for special or consequential
damages. SELLER NEITHER MAKES NOR ASSUMES ANY OTHER WARRANTY WHATSOEVER,
WHETHER EXPRESS, STATUTORY, OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS, AND NO PERSON IS AUTHORIZED TO ASSUME FOR DX
ENGINEERING ANY OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY NOT STRICTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
FOREGOING.
