Thebelow-indicatedsafetyprecautionsandgeneralwarningsmustbecarefullyobservedduringallphasesofuse,maintenanceandservicingoftheinstrumenttoavoiddamagestopersons,animalsandproperty.UNAOHMSTARTS.r.l.assumesnoresponsibilityforincorrectuseoftheinstrumentorifthe norms specified are not followed.
1.1.SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
Supply the instrument with a voltage within the limits indicated in the specifications. Insertthethreeprongplugofthepowercord(standardaccessory)inastandardmainsoutlet,
equippedwithvalidelectricgroundprotection(theinstrumentisintheClass1category). Donotusetheinstrumentunlesscompletelyhousedwithallcoverson. Thisinstrumenthasbeendesignedforindooruse.Donotexposeittorainorwaterdripping. Donotusetheinstrumentinanexplosiveenvironmentduetothepresenceofgasor
inflammable fumes or dust. Theinstrumentmaybeusedinover-voltageCategoryIIandPollutionDegree2. Donotturnontheinstrumentimmediatelyaftertransferringitfromaverycoldplacetoahot
onetoavoidcondensation. Neitherobstructtheinstrumentscoolingslitsnorplaceitnearastrongsourceofheat. For prolonged use or heavy duty in the lab or in fixed places, the instrument should be taken off
itscarryingcasetoallowforbetterheatdissipation. DonotapplyhigherDCorRFvoltagesthanthoseindicated,totheinputconnectors. Werecommendperiodicinspectionofthecarryingstrap,itsrelatedfastenersandspringlocks
sincetheycouldbedamagedwithuse.Assoonasasignofwearisnoticed,replacethestrap. Whentheinstrumentisequippedwithabattery,werecommend
1) Donotshort-circuitthebatterysinceitmayexplode.2) Do not immerse the battery in water or dispose of in the fire.3) Donotperforateortrytoopenthebattery.4) Whenreplacingthebattery,useoneofthesamekindanddisposeoftheoldoneina
properecologicaldisposalcontainers.) Donotconnectthebatterywithinvertedpolarity.
Thissymbolwillappearwhenitisnecessaryfortheusertoconsulttheinstructionmanualforadditionalinformationandinordertoprotecttheinstrumentfromdamage.

1.2.GENERALWARNINGS
Themonitorliquidisharmful.Ifthemodulebreaks,theliquidcouldcomeoutsodonottouchitwithyourhandsoranypartofyourbody.Beespeciallycarefulforyoureyesandmouth.Incaseofdirectcontactwithyourskin,washwithsoapandwater.
DonotexposetheLCDreadouttodirectsunlightortointenseultravioletraysforalongtimebecausetheymaycauseitsdeterioration.
Keeptheinstrumentinaplacewherethetemperatureishigherthantheminimumstoragetemperatureotherwise the liquid crystal solidifies causing damage to the monitor. Also, when maximum warehousing temperaturesareexceeded,theliquidcrystalreturnstotheisotropicstateanditmaynotbepossibletoinvertit.
Oneofthemostfrequentneedsfortechnicalassistanceorrepairiscausedbyinternalshort-circuitsduetotheintroductionintheinstrumentofforeignobjects,evenifverysmall,inspiteofalltheprecautionstakentopreventthispossibility.Wethereforehighlyrecommendnottocutcoaxialcablesabovetheinstrumentsinceevenverysmallpiecesofwirefromtheshieldingbraidcouldfallintotheinstrument and cause intermittent short-circuiting which may even be difficult for service and repair technicianstolocate.
1.3.MAINTENANCE

5.1.1. Conditioning,adding,replacingthebatteries
Forsafetypurposes(duetothepossibilitythatdamagesmaybecausedduringtransport),theinstruments leave our factory with flat batteries. These batteries reach normal operating capacity afteratleastthreecompletecharge/dischargecycles.Toaddasecondbatteryortoreplaceone:

WARNING: to turn off instruments with batteries it is not enough to use the power switch O (36) because they would continue to be operative. The meter must be turned off by pressingthekeyPWR (21)forashorttime.Subsequently,ifnecessary,activatethegeneral power switch O (36).
Thisprocedurealsoguaranteesanonvolatilestorageofthedataloadedduringtheworkingsessionandtheautomaticrecalloftheinstrumenttothesameoperatingmodeasthatatthetimetheinstrumentwasturnedofflast(seesection.7).
Iftheinstrumentisnotusedforaperiodoftimeexceeding10minutes(withoutpressinganykeyatall),itautomaticallyturnsofftoavoidunnecessaryconsumptionofthebattery.Todisengagethisautomaticturnoffdevice,followtheindicationsfoundunderAUTOPOWEROFFofthemenuactivatedbypressingthekeyENTER(30)twice(see.14.1.9).

5.3.HOWTOUSETHEBATTERYIf mains voltage is present, or the value of the external Vdc power is sufficient, the instrument, when on Stand-By, recharges the internal battery. If two batteries have been fitted inside, both are recharged.Someimportantnotesaboutbatteryuseare: Werecommendrechargingthebatterywhentheinstrumentisbrandnew(seesection.1.1.). Just before total battery flatness, the warning LOWBATT flashes on the display (17). At this
point,werecommendinterruptingtheuseoftheinstrumentassoonaspossibleandrechargingthebattery.If,instead,themeterisoperatedforanadditionalperiodoftime(10minutesmax)thewritingBATTERYappearsandtheinstrumentturnsoff.
Whentheinstrumentremainsinactiveforlongperiodsoftime,werecommendrechargingthebatteryatleastonceamonthtoavoidself-discharge
