The building is set within the curtilage of a Grade II listed building as well as being within a conservation area. It is also sited next to a registered garden at Wadham College and adjacent to a 17th century Civil War rampart within archaeological remains under the footprint of the proposed building. The scheme exceeded the client’s brief in terms of accommodation by 18 rooms. The building is also designed with a single stair approach further improving efficiency and achieving better value. I was responsible for the successful planning application which replaced an extant consent for the site. This involved detailed negotiations with English Heritage, City Conservation and Tree Officers to achieve a successful planning permission.
