CELEBRATIONS in Jamieson albeit distancing is essential, as Georgie and Jacob Bolwell are the proud parents of their new born son, Hamish Wallace Bolwell-Hall.
Hamish was born last Wednes-day, September 16 in Brisbane weighing in at 3.9kg.
Georgie and Jacob with older brother, 15-month-old Thomas, are overjoyed at the safe arrival of Hamish.
Jamieson grandparents Gene-vieve and Ian Bolwell are delight-ed with the safe arrival of their eighth grandchild.
Congratulations.
THE baby boom is continu-ing, with Jamieson grandparents Rosemary Lloyd and husband Rob King, looking forward to meeting their new grandson Tommy.
Rob’s son Dylan and Hayley are the proud parents of Tommy who weigh in at 9.5lbs, in Gee-long last week.
Tommy’s older sister Isla, is also thrilled to have a new baby brother.
Congratulations.
MORE celebrations are forth-coming, Senior Constable George Crawford has been appointed resident police offi cer in charge in Jamieson.
An offi cial welcome will be held when the family arrive in residence.
The family, George his wife Mizue, two daughters Scout and
Coco, and son Ranger. The family will take up resi-
dence at Jamieson in the near fu-ture.
The community knows Snr Constable George, who has been working in Jamieson prior to his permanent appointment.
His wife Mizue teaches Japa-nese to the students at Jamieson Primary School.
They will be most welcome in the community.
JAMIESON Primary School council met last week prior to the fi nal week in term 3.
One of the disappointments with the COVID-19 restrictions, has been the cancelation of the annual Jamieson Primary School Wine, Cheese, Beer and Cider tasting and auction, fund raising event.
This event has been run con-tinuously for decades.
It is a must, on the Jamieson social calendar.
The annual school concert is still on the agenda and is hoped to be an occasion to show off the newly furbished Memorial Hall and display the students’ amazing resilience and talents through this extraordinary year.
THE Jamieson CFA pre-season ‘under fi re’ drills are still being conducted, two sometimes three
times a week, under the watchful eye of CFA instructor Gerry Molo-ney.
On Wednesday evening, the fi re alarm was sounded about 7pm.
The team left their homes and dinners to answer the call.
A fi re in a residential home had started in the fi replace chimney.
To the relief of the home own-ers, the fi re crew and neighbours who arrived had the fi re under control and extinguished before further damage occurred.
The members returned home to a well earned but late dinner.
A reminder that chimneys do need an annual clean.
There are products available to do this job without climbing onto the roof, as chimney sweeps of old had to do.
THE Jamieson Museum com-mittee is hoping to open the Jamieson and District Histori-cal Society Museum on the fi rst weekend in November.
Cup weekend has been the date of the opening for years.
All members and residents have their fi ngers crossed, hop-ing for the opening to be on time.
Gallery on Nash will open on Saturday, September 26 at 10am through to 3pm.
The gallery provides a kalei-doscope of interest in the pro-duce it displays.
The art on sale and display ranges from oil paintings, water colours, and ink drawings, glass art, personalised cards both for-mal and whimsical.
There is homemade produce, beautiful craft works and the nursery with plants, seedlings, any amount of vegetable and fruit trees, as well as trees and shrubs to gladden the heart of the home gardener.
THE Courthouse Hotel is open for business, seven days a week.
The service of the hotel pro-prietors and staff has been exem-plary, providing take away service throughout the COVID restric-tions.
It is essential that patrons book, as the hotel has restricted seating due to the distancing re-quirements.
THE Jamieson Brewery and Grill will commence trading on Wednesday, September 23 for lunch and dinner daily during the school holidays.
The team are looking forward to a busy school holiday period and catching up with their cli-ents.
Bookings are essential.
WILI’S Thai Junction Restau-rant in Jamieson will open on Friday, September 25 for the full dining experience.
The restaurant has been cater-ing for take away meals during the COVID restrictions.
Wili and Daryl are looking for-ward to catering to their clientele in house, and they will trade Fri-day, Saturday and Sunday eve-nings.
Bookings are essential.

Jamieson birth celebrated Council makes new appointment to audit and risk advisory committee
MOHLEE Ng was recently appointed as an independent member of Mansfield Shire Council’s Audit and Risk Advisory Committee after council received seven applications.
Mansfield Shire chief executive officer Kaylene Conrick said it was heartening to see so much interest from a high calibre of suitably experienced people.
“We thank everyone for their interest as this is an important role,” she said.
“The key objective of the committee is to provide advice to council on identify-ing and managing risk, bringing
objectivity to internal and external financial reports, identifying and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regu-lations, and advising on the effectiveness of the annual audit program.
“Ms Ng will start in the role when Katie Lockey’s 12 month term on the commit-tee comes to an end on November 13.
“We thank Ms Lockey for her contribu-tion.”
Ms Conrick also thanked the other independent members Bruce Potgieter and Peter Johnston for their input.
“Having independent eyes and the minds of people with varied experience involved in our finances, risk and audits is valued by our team,” she said.
The committee’s charter outlines the term of appointment for independent members is three years on a rolling cycle, so that there is at least one new appoint-ment each year.
Council advertised the position in July.Seven applications were received and
Ms Lockey did not re-apply.Each independent committee member
receives a stipend of $1000 per meeting and there are typically four meetings scheduled per year.
