home of the lords and the knights.

● It was also used as a fortress when there was danger.

● The peasants entered when there was danger.

Villages.● In the middle ages,

most people in Europe lived in villages.Each village was controlled by the lord of the manor.It usually had three fields,divided into strips, which the lord allowed the villagers to farm.They paid him by giving him some of the food they grew.

The reserves.● The peasants grew

crops for the lord and their families.

● The lord protected the peasants in case of war if they paid him with crops.Reserves
