OPEN DAYSATURDAY14 APRIL
De Paul Manor Estate has just
opened a new display apartment
to showcase the style of living on
offer at the Ashmore retirement
community. It wasn’t that long ago
that a contract was placed on the
previous display. The buyer was so
impressed that they purchased the
apartment with furniture included.
Once again a leading Gold Coast
interior designer has added her
personal touch, creating warm and
inviting ambience to the spacious
two bedroom plus study apartment.
High ceilings, a private balcony,
quality appointments and fittings are
standard features, along with split
system air-conditioning, stone bench
tops, a glass splash back and 24
hour emergency alert service.
The new display apartment is
located close to the ‘Residents
Retreat’ and facilities. To organise
a private inspection phone Sue on
1300 732 306 or come along to our
Open Day on 14 April and take a
wander through.
A perfect place to retire
For Judith and Gerard the move to
De Paul Manor Estate six months
ago is all part of a retirement goal to
continue to live active and healthy
lives. The couple who admit to
being, “in the process of discovering
retirement,” also cite the opportunity
for daily exercise, and involvement
with not just the growing De Paul
Manor community but also in the
local community as part of their
master plan.
“The move back to Queensland from
Lake Macquarie near Newcastle
and into De Paul Manor has been a
challenging but positive one for us,
giving us the opportunity to downsize
our lives”, said Judith. Now that they
don’t have the burden of maintaining
their large five bedroom lakeside
home, they have more time to do the
things they enjoy.
At 59 and 65 years of age, Judith
and Gerard are aware that they have
moved into retirement community
at an opportune time. It’s all about
making the most of De Paul Manor’s
facilities while they can. For them
it is all about the ‘now’, keeping fit
and healthy, having fun at the same
time, nominating the swimming pool
and the modern gym as one of the
aspects of ‘Manor’ life that they really
enjoy.
Within a few weeks of moving they
had both also joined an over 60’s
Judith Keller and Gerard Sullivan
cycling group located in Labrador,
undertaking local rides as well
as rides up and down the Coast.
“Cycling around the local area has
given us an opportunity to feel at
home in the place we now live, and
to experience the joy of keeping
active and having some fun too with
the other cyclists in the group,” said
Judith. Recently they enjoyed cycling
from Kingscliff to Pottsville and back
with the group, a distance of around
40 kilometres.
“Every day is a blessing for us”, says
Gerard. “Including the opportunity to
find ourselves in a whole new place
in our lives with the opportunity to
meet new people and to discover
what retirement can mean for us”.
Even now, after six months, it
continues to surprise the couple that
they were able to make such a big
decision, to sell their former home,
to say goodbye to some of their
wonderful friends and to make the
move.
“It has been important to us to
acknowledge that our move to De
Paul Manor Estate has required of us
a period of adjustment and transition,
and of letting go, and other residents
around us speak of this process
too,” said Gerard. “There is a lovely
diversity of age, background and
experience in the people around us
and a continuum along which people
here are taking up the opportunities
of retirement living both inside and
outside the Manor. We are young
enough to want to keep working on
this balance in our lives and we have
found we have the freedom here to
do this.”

New community bus makes a splash
St Patrick’s Day at the ManorThe Irish would have been ‘proud as
punch’ to see the Manor residents
celebrating on Saturday 17 March.
The community’s private Residents
Retreat was transformed into an Irish
pub for the annual St Patrick’s Day
celebrations. Residents, families and
friends got into the spirit by dressing up
in their greens and preparing for a night
to remember. The fun evening did not
disappoint with party goers enjoying a
classic Irish dinner washed down with
a never ending flow of Guinness. With
enough raffles to supply an army and
live entertainment from an authentic
Irish dancer all the way from Dublin,
everyone was captivated all night long.
The night finished with a classic Irish
coffee... what more could you want!
If you’re out and about around
Southport and Ashmore there’s a
pretty good chance of seeing De Paul
Manor and Villa’s new commuter bus.
Dropping off or picking up residents
from one of the many organised social
outings or shopping trips that take
place, the De Paul bus is a convenient
new addition. Unmistakeable with its
bold colours and images of the award
winning estate, the bus has already
become something of a conversation
piece when it pulls in to park at the
sporting or social clubs about town.
