The Pico version is thesingle-stage version of theNLG, i.e. without integrateddust pre-separation. This version is especially suitablefor applications where lowdust loads require a filter witha low initial flow resistance.
These are, for example:• lorries• buses• mobile cranes• compressors• stationery engines• power generators• cooling aggregates • marine applications
The combination filters consistof Pico versions of the NLGfilters in size 37 together withDualSpin® pre-separators specially developed for thesefilters and offer an efficiencygreater than 90 % with mini-mal pressure loss. The longservice life and special de-sign of the pre-separator –which nearly eliminates clogging – means that thecombination filters are parti-cularly suitable for use invery dusty environments.
These are, for example:• combine-harvesters• field choppers• special harvesting machines
for cotton, sugar cane orpeat, etc.
• construction and agriculturalmachinery in very dustyenvironments
Our customers can select the ideal configuration for the combination air cleaneraccording to the service liferequirements and air require-ment for the machine. Threefilter housing lengths areavailable on the filter sidewith two inlet distributorsavailable on the cyclone sidefor flow rates from 20 m3/minto 40 m3/min.

The fact that the Pico and thePiclon versions both have thesame housing dimensionsand connections means thatthe Piclon can replace thePico if the machine has to be used in a certain regionwhere dust conditions areworse. The installation of thefilter does not require anychanges to the pipe connec-tions or the bracket fitting.

The Piclon version is the two-stage version of the NLGwith integrated dust pre-separation and an efficiencyof more than 75 %. This version is particularly suitablefor applications with averageto heavy dust loads.

Modular concept
whereas machines operatingin environments with heavydust loads can simply beequipped with a longer bowland longer elements. Thepipe connections and bracketfitting remain unchanged andso the service life can easilybe adapted to many variedoperating conditions in orderto reach the most economicsolution.
Modular components arecombined together to allowcustomers to find the idealsolution from 12 base varia-tions. In this way the respec-tive requirements for machi-nes operating in differentregions can be fulfilled. Forthe standard version of a certain machine, for example,it will be sufficient for theNLG filter to have a shortbowl and short elements

The DualSpin® technologydeveloped by MANN+HUMMEL with apatent pending is based onthe principle of energy reco-very through dual spin. Firstof all, the incoming air – aswith every cyclone – is madeto rotate by an inlet distributor.As a result dust is carried tothe sides where it is separa-ted.
DualSpin® means that theoutlet pipe where the airflows to the fine filter is fittedwith a second distributor. It
converts the rotation move-ment of the air flow into anaxial movement. In this waya larger part of the rotationenergy can be recovered.
The result is the DualSpin®
pre-separator only consumeshalf as much energy as aconventional cyclone whilehaving the same efficiency.Or, in other words: for thesame pressure loss it is possible to achieve a consi-derably higher pre-separationefficiency and therefore alonger service life.
The advantages of theDualSpin® pre-separator:
• High pre-separation effi-ciency with low pressureloss
• The special plastic used inthe housing is designed tobe antistatic. This avoidsany loss of separation performance arising from static charge build-up inthe filter through contactwith organic dirt particles.
• Various distributor insertscan be used to fine-tunethe pre-cyclone perfectly tomeet the air requirementsof the machine.
• The polygon structure ofthe exterior wall enablesuse of the proven holderEuropiclon 700 fromMANN+HUMMEL.

A polygon structure is inte-grated in the exterior wall ofthe DualSpin® pre-separatorand this enables use of theproven MANN+HUMMELholder if the installation re-quires this.
The polygon structure has 14 locking positions in theradial direction and 72 diffe-rent orientations on the cir-cumference.

The DualSpin® pre-separatorcan be directly fitted onto theair cleaner housing. There isalso the possibility, however,to fit the pre-separator in adifferent position and connectit to the air cleaner using anair duct. This is referred to asa remote design.
