Springs, talk seems to be the impetus for action. And
there’s a lot of talking going on. “We’re talking in Mani-
tou Springs,” said David Chorpenning, a member of the
Manitou Springs Forward group. “And things are getting
done. If you look back to the work that was done on
the Rainbow Vision Plan, it all started with a group of
people talking; having a conversation about what they
wanted this town to look like. Seventeen years later,
there are many projects that we can point to that
resulted from those early conversations,” said Chorpen-
ning.
Manitou Springs Forward is getting ready to start a new
conversation and input is needed from all citizens of
Manitou Springs.
Manitou Springs is the place where I live, work and
play,” said Natalie Johnson, owner of Black Cat Books.
“I feel the importance of community in our town in
everything that I do. I look forward to visioning with a
diverse group of Manitou’s fans and residents because I
recognize that we are in this together. It is like Wellstone
said: ‘We all do better, when we all do better.’”
Johnson is part of a less formal group of citizens
who are working hard to engage as many people as
possible in a process that helps give Manitou Springs
a great future, based on input gathered from a variety
of sectors and backgrounds. Her group has set up
meetings that will take place in the next several weeks. Join the group
that grabs your interest, and mark your calendar for the big event:
the Manitou Springs Community Potluck and Visioning Forum, which
takes place Sunday, June 26 at Manitou’s City Hall from Noon to 4:
