M ichelle ursini and luca corrente were 17 years old when they first met through mutual friends. they both frequented the same social circle and after a year of friendship, they became a couple.
On Valentine’s Day weekend in 2014, the couple had planned a trip to Blue Mountain for one of their usual snowboarding excursions. Luca feigned getting lost on the way and instead of driving to Blue Mountain, he whisked Michelle off to a secluded bed and breakfast. Once they arrived, the couple was greeted with a seemingly spontaneous sleigh ride—the first in a series of surprises that culminated in a romantic lunch. Halfway through the meal, Luca presented Michelle with a Kinder Surprise egg, Michelle’s favourite chocolate. Although she intended to save it for later, Luca insisted that she open it. Inside she discovered a stunning engagement ring with which Luca proposed.
Naomi Serkin of naomi serkin & associates provided full-service planning and design assistance. frank rea event design - forget me not flowers oakville designed all of the flowers for the wedding and created the bride’s lush bouquet of white O’Hara, spray, and blush coloured roses. “It was soft and romantic, exactly how I wanted,” shares Michelle.

From the ceremony, guests proceeded to the liberty grand, where the cocktail and evening receptions were held. frank rea event design - forget me not flowers oakville and Naomi Serkin of naomi serkin & associates collaborated on the design and decor of the event. “I wanted an old-world feel to my wedding day. I wanted Luca and myself, as well as our family and guests to feel like they were in an Italian Renaissance garden,” shares Michelle. The courtyard of the Liberty Grand was transformed into an intimate lounge area where guests could mingle, enjoy hors d’oeuvres,
and relax prior to the reception, all while enjoying music performed by a string trio from wellington music. The focal point of the courtyard was a wrought iron gazebo with hanging chandeliers, surrounded by vignettes of vintage furniture draped in floral and accented with antique mirrored tables from detailz couture event rentals. Frank Rea also provided the sofas, settee, and wire table and contemporary furniture rentals inc. provided the cruiser tables and stools.

A statement-making head table made of boxwood hedging, designed by naomi serkin & associates and frank rea event design - forget me not flowers oakville, welcomed guests when they entered the reception. An arrangement composed of over 30-ft of wisteria, ruscus, and 15 chandeliers was suspended above the table. Low centrepieces of petite white roses ran across the table, creating a breathtaking floral runner. Mirrored rectangular tables from detailz couture event rentals gave an extra touch of glam to the table decor and lit the room
in an unconventional way. “Because the tables were mirrored, the way the lighting and the crystal candelabras reflected created an elegant and warm feel to the room,” remembers Michelle. Tables provided by Frank Rea Event Design - Forget Me Not Flowers Oakville were covered in gold taffeta linens from around the table. Place settings were elevated with gilded flatware, gold-rimmed stemware, and crystal chargers from chair-man mills that further echoed the feeling of a bygone era.

“We wanted a black tie affair and wanted to portray romance and elegance. I knew I wanted the colours gold, white, and blush with touches of greenery. As part of my vision, I wanted lots of wisteria, floral, and chandeliers as they would add to the elegance of the evening.” –michelle

For the evening portion of the celebration, the
bride changed into a custom-made Danny De
La Venta gown. She paired it with a Swarovski
crystal body chain by Johanna Johnson from
dina alonzi bridal.
ENDNOTES Nadia Colella of nadia & co~ took inspiration for the cake design from the couple’s intricate invitations. The seven-tier cream-coloured cake featured a custom embossed floral design, gilded lace details, and handmade sugar roses with gold leaves that trickled down the cake.
The day was captured by impact films. The live band soular performed while guests dined before DJ LiL Funky took over and turned the Italian wedding up a notch, playing crowd-pleasing Italian hits. For an added late-night entertainment treat, bb blanc provided a bongo and sax player.
Michelle and Luca’s honeymoon was an adventure-filled, wanderlust-worthy experience. The newlyweds first flew to Hong Kong before moving on to Thailand where they visited Chiang Mai, Bangkok (where they celebrated Michelle’s birthday at the top of the tower club at lebua), Ko Samui, Krabi, and Phuket before ending their trip with a stay at the jumeirah mina a’salam in extravagant Dubai. “We had the trip of a lifetime,” says Michelle.
