Mission Statement

In 1927, 32 extraordinary life insurance producers, each having sold at least $1 million of life insurance, gathered to organize a forum dedicated to fostering a high-standard, professional approach to life insurance sales.

They met at the National Association of Life Underwriters convention in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

MDRT’s History

Members of MDRT should be ever mindful that

complete compliance with and observance of the Code

of Ethics of MDRT shall serve to promote the highest

quality standards of membership.

These standards will be beneficial to the public and the insurance and financial services profession.

MDRT’s Code of Ethics

Qualifying Member: First-time, approved applicants with production become Qualifying members until the 10th year of membership is attained.

Qualifying & Life Member: Members attain Qualifying and Life (QL) status when approved for the 10th year of membership. They maintain this status by submitting an application each year attesting to having met current minimum production levels and by paying the required dues.Life Member: Once Qualifying and Life membership is attained, a member may apply as a Life (L) member by not including certified production with the membership application.

All members must apply every year to continue their MDRT affiliation.

Commission Requirement

MDRT• USD 91,000 of eligible commissions.• USD 45,500 of eligible commissions must come from products listed in the Unlimited Credit/Risk-Protection category.

Court of the Table • USD 273,000 of eligible commissions (three times the basic requirement).• USD 45,500 of eligible commissions must come from products listed in the Unlimited Credit/Risk-Protection category.

Top of the Table • USD 546,000 of eligible commissions (six times the basic requirement).• USD 45,500 of eligible commissions must come from products listed in the Unlimited Credit/Risk-Protection category.

MDRT• USD 182,000 of eligible paid premium.• USD 91,000 of eligible paid premium must come from products listed in the Unlimited Credit/Risk-Protection category.

Income Requirement

Additional requirements for each level listed above: • USD 45,500 must be income generated from new business• USD 45,500 must come from income associated with risk- protection products (products in the Unlimited Credit category).

Approximately 700 member volunteers serve on any of nine Annual Meeting task forces.

The PGA Committee of Annual Meeting volunteers provides members with the opportunity to be part of the Annual Meeting. It is from the PGA that members are chosen for MDRT leadership positions.
