Manduadih Railway Station Manduadih Railway Station is situated in Manduadih area of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. It is a terminal station in Varanasi district under Varanasi Division / North Eastern Railway. It is about 3 KM North-West of Varanasi Junction station, lies on Prayagraj-Varanasi Junction line. Perhaps, the name of Manduadih has been on the name of local Rishi (Saint) named Mandav. It was opened as MG (meter gauge) railway station in 1906. Gauge conversion from MG to BG (Broad gauge) completed during 1993-94. It is now, NSG-3 Class and Adarsh Station. Varanasi derived on two important rivers Varuna and Asi, flow through this area. Varanasi is also used to be called Banaras since Buddhist era, as mentioned in Pali Literature. Certain items viz. Paan, Sari, Gamchha, Chaat etc. of this area are famous all over the world as tag name of Banarsi. People, here are quite often found asking for Banarsi-paan, Banarsi-sari, Banarsi-gamchha, Banarsi-chaat etc. Even, Hon’ble PM Mr. Narendra Modi had advised people of India to use Banarsi - gamchha as alternative to Cloth-mask, in protection of CORONA infection. During the period of second Chief Minister of UP, Dr. Sampurnanand, the name of Banaras Cant railway station was changed to Varanasi Junction on May 24, 1956. After almost 65 years, “Banaras” is back on the map of Indian Railway as Manduadih Railway Station is going to rename as Banaras Railway Station. Manduadih Railway station is a world class station which is termed as airport style railway station in Indian Railway (IR) and indeed, a model railway station in IR. It is ISO: 2015 certified railway station with ISO: 9001 for Quality management system, ISO: 14001 for Environment management system and ISO: 18001 for Occupation health and safety management system. It has also achieved certification of 5 S for Work management system on 2 nd Oct’2019 by QFCI/Varanasi Chapter. It is NGT complied station. Yard remodelling Manduadih station was carried out on 13 th Jan’2019 and various infrastructural and passenger amenities works completed during 2018-19. Highlights of Manduadih railway station, after up-gradation are as under: After yard remodelling, running lines increased from 4 to 10, number of platforms from 3 to 8, number of washing pits from 2 to 4. After up-gradation/ expansion, 5 pairs of passenger trains have been transferred from Varansi Junction to Manduadih station. Varanasi- Prayagraj section is electrified and has pride to run Vande Bharat (Semi high speed train) on 110 KMPH. Doubling with electrification in Varanasi-Prayagraj section is in full swing and being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). Doubling with electrification work from Manduadih to Madhosingh stations has been completed so far and planned to be completed upto Handiakhas station upto March’2021.

Manduadih Railway Station

Manduadih Railway Station is situated in Manduadih area of Varanasi in Uttar

Yard remodelling Manduadih station was carried out on 13th Jan’2019 and various

infrastructural and passenger amenities works completed during 2018-19.

Highlights of Manduadih railway station, after up-gradation are as under:

• After yard remodelling, running lines increased from 4 to 10, number of

platforms from 3 to 8, number of washing pits from 2 to 4. After up-gradation/

expansion, 5 pairs of passenger trains have been transferred from Varansi

Junction to Manduadih station.

• Varanasi- Prayagraj section is electrified and has pride to run Vande Bharat

(Semi high speed train) on 110 KMPH.

• Doubling with electrification in Varanasi-Prayagraj section is in full swing and

being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). Doubling with

electrification work from Manduadih to Madhosingh stations has been

completed so far and planned to be completed upto Handiakhas station upto

March’2021.

• Lohta by-pass line has also been completed in Dec’2019 which has opened

an alternative route to run passenger trains from Manduadih to Lohta without

touching Varanasi Junction station.

• Due to opening of Lohta by-pass line, 4 pairs of passenger trains have been

transferred from Varanasi Junction to Manduadih which helped in de-

congestion of Varanasi Junction station.

• Train handling load at Manduadih station are:

✓ 12 pairs M/Exp trains without stoppage

✓ 5 pairs M/Exp trains with stoppage

✓ 22 pairs of originating/terminating M/Exp/Pass trains

✓ 04 pairs of OD trains are proposed (MUV-NDLS, MUV-PNVL, MUV-UMB

& MUV-HWH) to be run by private operators

• Road over bridge (ROB) over LC no. 3A completed in March’2018 and

hence, LC has now been closed with the consent of district administration.

• Siding of Food Corporation of India (FCI) has been taken over from Lucknow/

Northern Railway in Match’2020. First rake of food grain was handled by

Varanasi division on 11.04.2020, during lockdown due to COVID-19.

• Footfall of Manduadih station was 19.27 lakhs and passenger earning of 35.45

Cr. in 2019-2020.

• Passenger amenities available at Manduadin station are: 2nd FOB, 2nd entry,

UTS, PRS, Enquiry office, 1 Esclator,1 lift, 11 Retiring rooms, 03 Dormitories,

01 AC Lounge, New parking area, Wi-Fi, CCTV, 05 lines train indication

board, 02 ATVMs and POET.

• One 100 feet tall National Flag installed at 2nd Entry.

• Mechanized laundry (2 ton per shift capacity) installed for linen supply in

trains.

Value of Works completed at Manduadih station in last 5 years: Rs.80.61 Cr.

• Provision of second circulating area towards goods shed and

dismantling of goods shed & exit gate.

• Provision of standard signage.

• Extension and improvement of circulating area towards RPF post.

• Improvement of surfacing circulating area towards ALY side &

development of transit VIP entry.

• For connectivity of LOHATA from the yard construction of 2 Km.

• Construction of 500 m new track for connectivity of DLW, New

Washing pit towards BSB side and track depot.

• Insertion of 67 Nos. Of points and crossings for connectivity in the

yard.

• Construction of two island platforms of 550 m length and extension

of FOB by 25 m.
