Boys and girls alike, LOVE evolving into junior engineers! Students will discover what an engineer does and even more exciting, inquisitively createtheir OWN hands-on projects using the engineering design process. Enter a world of innovation, imagination, and learning. This semester's offeringis Introductory Minecraft and Hardware engineering! We start off the semester as computer software engineers using MinecraftEDU as our virtualplatform. Juniors will learn the basics of how to navigate through Minecraft and engineer a virtual world of their own! Later on in the semester we willexplore the world of computer animation and hardware engineering! Using Scratch 2.0 (software designed by MIT!) and electronic makey makeykits, students will go on a musical adventure where they program musical animations on a laptop and then connect it to hardware to create aninteractive game!

Later in the semester, students will become gamer designers - using clickteam fusion software to develop actual platform games inthe style of mario kart! ArtSmart is an early learning program that introduces young children to art by letting their natural creative abilities unfold in a fun environment. Whilestudents explore color, texture, shapes, and different types of art materials, they learn to freely express their feeling and ideas through art projects.ArtSmart is designed to help children develop fine motor skills, perceptual thinking, and creative problem solving while building an appreciation of art.Students will work with a range of art materials and techniques tailored to their specific developmental level.

MDS’s faculty are from some of the most prestigious dance institutions in China as well as the U.S., such as New York University Tisch school ofArts, New York Juilliard's Dance Division, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Beijing Dance Academy, Shanghai Theatre Academy. MitsiDancing School and Dance of Asian America are the only Chinese Dance School and Company to have our own city-wide productions at MillerOutdoor Theatre twice a year. Teacher Description

This class is for the beginner student. The course is a combination Ballet and Chinese dance class and will be taught entirely in ChineseMandarin Language. 30 minutes of the course will include ballet, which covers the following but will progress at a constantly challenging and funlevel for the kids: Basic feet and arm positions, Across the floor traveling steps, Barre work and center (Plie, tendu, degage, rond de jambe,battement, sautes, etc.), Stretch for flexibility. Chinese has 56 ethnic groups containing different cultures, traditions and history. We will teach adance from a different ethnic group yearly so the children can take a journey to China through their dancing. They will learn of the culture, traditionsand history embedded in the dance and its movements and will master the skills in each dance. The dance can be performed at the School'sChinese New year festival or other events. They may also join Mitsi Dancing School recital which is coming up on our 33rd anniversary next year.The show is an entirely professional production with Chinese dance, modern/contemporary dance, Lyrical dance and Jazz dance in the first half ofthe show and a full ballet (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, etc.) in the second half. More info on the Mitsi Dancing Schoolrecital will be given to students in class. NOTE: Proper attire is necessary to attend each class as follows and may be purchased as needed due tothe growth of your child: Leotard - $13, Ballet Shoes - $12, Ballet tights $10. We will cover learning the proper baseball mechanics in hitting, fielding, and throwing;and most importantly, a basic understanding of the game and rules by working on basic skills and drills. USA Chess has been teaching children from beginners to experienced tournament chess players for over 15 years. Our staff is carefully selectedboth for their ability to play (all are experienced tournament players) and to teach the game in a fun, entertaining and interesting way.

Teacher Description

Children of all ages and abilities will be taught the game of chess from experienced tournament players. Lessons are tailored to the abilities of theclass. Beginners will be taught the basics (how the pieces move, the rules, etc. ) while more experienced players will be given problems to solve,lessons in tactics, checkmates, openings, etc. Children will be split into groups by ability if more than 20 children enroll.

The Monart school of art has been serving Houston for over 8 years. We pride ourselves in teaching free hand drawing with a progressive andunique step-by-step drawing curriculum. Monart teachers have been trained in the "Monart" methodology, which was founded by Ms. Mona Brooks,the author of teaching children how to draw; our core strength is that children learn how to break down any image into simple elements and drawthem independently. Along with excellent art skills, they have a passion to teach. They are patient and work well with all students to help themovercome their difficulties.

Teacher Description

Students are taught illustration & animation prior to game design. In the Spring term students will further their knowledge into 'Step event' , 'Paths','Levels', and 'Conversion'. From the middle of the Spring 2016 semester, students will proceed to 'Sculptress' and 3D printing. 3D Printing will bedone at the Bellaire studio.

Bayou City Fencing Academy is the oldest and largest fencing facility in Harris County. Our instructors have extensive experience teaching in bothpublic and private schools. They themselves have all been exceptional fencers. Our fencers have won gold medals in local, state and nationaltournaments and have gone on to some of the most prestigious universities with fencing scholarships. We are a member of the United StatesFencing Association and as such have hosted National as well coordinated the Houston NCAA fencing championships and senior and juniorOlympics.

All art work will be placed into their individualportfolios along with a progress report and be handed back at the last class.

Bush and former Secretary of State James Baker III, as a pianist at the Houston Club. In the summer of 2015 she performedin the Interharmony International Music Festival in Tuscany, Italy. In the summer of 2014, she sang with the Christ United Methodist Church ofSugar Land Festival Choir at the Sing Mit Festival in Vienna, Austria and also in Budapest and Prague. She also sang with that choir in CarnegieHall in New York City. She currently studies piano with Julliard graduate Dr. Ilgin Aka and has previously studied with professors at the ShepherdSchool of Music and the Moores School of Music in Houston, Texas. All studio instructors are accomplished musicians and have extensive trainingand experience in teaching.

This private class will provide the student one on one instruction. The student will develop a love of the guitar by learning how to play differentchords, as well as learning music theory. He/she will learn an appreciation of this instrument by learning a variety of genres: rock and roll; children’ssongs; jazz, rags and blues; holiday and other popular music. Required: Practice and an instrument at home is required. A recital at the completion ofeach semester will be scheduled. Students must bring their own guitar to class. MCLIMS will establish the Program of Ma Liping Chinese Curriculum (short for MLP Program) for the school year 2015-2016 school years for nativespeakers. Dr. Liping Ma Chinese Language Curriculum was specially designed for native speakers who already understand the spoken Chineseand wish to learn it as a heritage language. The curriculum includes a complete set of multi-media format homework in each lesson, completelyfocuses on the skills required, with a fun game of text ‘spelling’, and is loved by all children. Dr. Ma believes that for children who already speakthe language, the purpose of learning pinyin is not for studying characters or learning to speak but for using Chinese dictionary or Chinese wordprocessor as well as guiding the student to be independent at a higher level.To prepare for this, Pre MLP will be offered beginning this school year for the student to study their Chinese Language studies at a higher levelindependently.
