Project Benefits
Most importantly, the provision of a
water supply system for both stock
and domestic purposes at identified
properties will:
— Improve Mandamah farmers’ quality
of life by allowing them to spend more
time with their families whilst managing
their farms, rather than carting water
— Increase the area’s water security,
especially in times of dry weather
— Help the local agricultural industry grow
and diversify by providing a quality and
reliable water source
— Create employment opportunities, both
during and after construction
— Foster other business and trade activity
in the area to support the agricultural
industry’s development

The Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme is one of
Goldenfields Water’s biggest undertakings in recent history.
It will significantly expand the region’s water supply network
to provide essential water services to farmers and residents
across more than 90,000 hectares in the Mandamah region
west of Barmedman.
Overall, the scheme involves the construction of 180 kilometres
of water mains, two reservoirs capable of storing half a million
litres of water each, a water pump station, up to 100 smart
water meter connections, as well as all associated electrical
and communication systems.
Mandamah Rural Water Supply SchemeGoldenfields Water is investing $10.9 million
to deliver water supply services to about
100 rural properties near Barmedman.

Customer Connections
Customer connections will progressively become available as
each stage of the Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme is
completed.
Property owners will be responsible for organising the
connection of their property to the water meter installed by
Goldenfields Water.
More information will be provided to property owners prior to
the first round of connections becoming available.
The New System
The new Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme will operate in exactly
the same way as Goldenfields Water’s existing water supply system.
After undergoing a world-class treatment process at one of Goldenfields
Water’s treatment plants, the water will be pumped through pressurised
mains to the storage reservoirs located at a high elevation.
From the reservoirs, the water will then flow by gravity through
unpressurised mains to customers’ properties.
This form of water supply system is the most commonly used by water
utilities across Australia due to its lower maintenance requirements,
longer asset life expectancy, built-in system storage capacity, and the
minimal pump stations needed.
Goldenfields Water would like to sincerely thank the local community – in particular the Mandamah Water Association – for their ongoing support of this project.

Project Timing
Construction of the Mandamah Rural Water Supply Scheme
started in November 2017. The scheme will be delivered in four
stages and is expected to take around five years to complete.
During this period Goldenfields Water will be dedicating a
significant amount of its resources to ensure the scheme is
successfully delivered for the local rural community that will
depend on it.
