PREFACE

This report contains the projects done during our training period. We realized the essence

of the industrial training while undergoing this training program. We have also understood the

need of practical knowledge for fresh MBA along with the theoretical knowledge.

All MBA students are facing lots of problems during working in organizing applying

theoretical knowledge only cannot solve those problems. It requires practical knowledge which

can be in future.

During training period, students become familiar with the organization. Students acquire

the most advance technical knowledge and get acquainted with sophisticated instruments, which

are generally no available in college.

In this liberalized and global market it is necessary for MBA to have field knowledge in

order to achieve best quality and higher production to survive in a market

Company Introduction

In a world of water shortage and increasing awareness of water problems,

Paharpur has grown from a small lumber saw mill to one of the largest cooling tower

manufacturers in the world.

There are few problems Paharpur cannot solve related to the cooling of water or

Paharpur cooling tower ltd is an ISO: 9001 certified manufacturing plants located at Kolkata &

Bhasa in West Bengal, Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh, & Kandla & Savali in Gujarat, with their

own up to date lumber treatment facilities & CNC machines, employing over 6000 People. The

annul production is among tower cells, which includes more than 5000 cells of large industrial

cooling towers.

Paharpur has a technical collaboration for 30 years with The Marley cooling Tower company,

USA, which ended in 1993. During that period Marley technology was fully absorbed by

Paharpur. Today, Paharpur keeps itself ablest of the best in the world by its own R&D efforts

and contacts with the world’s leading cooling tower and component designers and

manufacturers. Some of the most valuable features of Paharpur cooling tower don’t appear on a

bid sheet, a design drawing or among the specifications. These are the ‘plus factors’, the extras

Management function

(1) Planning

Production department

In production department there are many sub department for complete the product of

Paharpur cooling tower ltd such as wood fire heater, fans, metal plates and other tower

equipment. For that first, cutting the iron plate and then rolling that plate, welding of rolling plate

and in that rolling plate fit the machinery after the fitting the machinery doing the color of that

finish product after that complete the product. Quality manager check the quality of the finish

goods and at the last do the packing of finish goods

Marketing department:-

Paharpur cooling tower ltd do the promotion activity through advertising in the TV,

holdings on the road, news papers etc. target market of Paharpur cooling tower ltd. All over India

through authorized dealer also out of India. It gives free home delivery and also gives the after

the self services.

Store management:-

In store management store the raw materials such as iron plate, color, screw, and finish

goods such as solar water heater, fans, wood fire heater etc.

According to the demand of raw materials, store manager issue the raw materials and

according to the demand of order of the finish goods issues the finish goods.10 | P a g e

Before receive the raw materials check the quality of raw materials and then store.

Quality management:-

After finish the goods, quality manager check the quality of the finish product. If any

fault in quality then that unit returns to repair department and improve that quality in that

product.

Quality manger maintains the quality of unit. Until that unit not sold in the market.

Quality manger also use the such techniques for maintain the quality of finish goods.

In Paharpur cooling tower ltd there are many different departments. In that have different

supervisor for handle his department, according to the work of employees supervisor gives

guidance. If any employees are new in the company them supervisor gives the knowledge how

can do the work easily and also gives the training to the new employees. Paharpur cooling tower

ltd follow the ISO rules.

(4) Staffing (recruitment)

For recruitment, Paharpur cooling tower ltd the advertisement in news paper. It also

recruits the employees through employment exchange office. It also put the notice in collage

notice board. Company also recruits the employees through the current employees, current

manager etc. means through references.

General Manager takes the interview and fills up personal information in the page. And

then take the interview consult department head. At last managing partner will observe that

candidate.

(5) Controlling

Supervisor control his department according to his ability. If there any mistake in quality

of product them identify that mistake and try to improve that mistake and remove. Control

function is very important in the management function without control Organization cannot

achieve the goal.
