Manager's Insight
Spring Has Sprung
Please drive safely when heading home or on your travels. We have some residents
who will be leaving soon. But we have more residents staying than ever before. I
would like to say to EVERYONE please prepare for Hurricane season. This is a serious
request and it must be heard. Everyone seems to try and prepare at the last minute.
We have Hurricane awareness packet you can come to the office and pick up.
I hope everyone is enjoying the pool. I do have one request upon leaving the pool area
please close the umbrellas. We want everyone to do their part to keep our property
safe and looking good. This also includes put back chairs that have been moved.
Thank you in advance.
Please join us on April 8th starting at 6:45pm and the movie will start when it gets
dark. The movie will be shown behind the Little Clubhouse. Popcorn will be served
previous to the movie starting. See you all there.

HOA NEWS
Your HOA Board continues to sponsor several social events each month. Our social,
entertainment and welcome committees are doing an excellent job to ensure there is something
for all residents. Please let an HOA Board member know if you have a suggestion or
recommendation regarding social events.
We remind you that your HOA Board has less than one year experience in organizing and
managing social events for Southport Springs. We have certainly experienced some let-downs
and challenges during this first year. Overall we are pleased with the entire process and results
regarding social events we have sponsored.
Our HOA meeting for the month of April will be on the 3rd
Tuesday. The date for the
meeting is April 19th
. The starting time remains at 7:00 p.m.
This is the time of year when many of our residents depart for their homes and families up north.
We hope and pray you all have safe travels and a blessed summer. You can keep in touch with
our HOA meetings and activities by checking out the HOA web page at
www.southportspringshoa.com
Our HOA Board thanks you for your words of thanks and encouragement. We appreciate you
and we appreciate your kindness.

Golf Caddy Shack This and That
Monthly Best Caddie Remark! Golfer: " Think I'm going to drown myself in the Lake." Caddy: "Think you can keep your head down that long?"
Spring has Sprung. Winter Leagues are just about over. Watch for Summer league time changes on the board in Golf Alley around May.
The Pro Shop is just about ready to open. A few more final details. Move in date should be by??????????. Waiting on cable, internet, drainage pipe, and few other items.
Granite signs are now installed and complete. I am disappointed we could not get enough Golf Members and Residents to sponsor a hole to beatify with shrubs, flowers, etc. Maybe we will try again in the future. We needed all 18 holes sponsored to make
it a beautification contest with $$$ to the winners for 1st, 2nd,3rd. The 1st annual Vendor Appreciation Tournament was great success.
We raised $3100 for "Thomas Promises Foundation." A BIG THANKS to the Vendors. Everyonr had a good time and enjoyed the luncheon which was provided by Sun
Communities and prepared by Terri and her Leprechauns. I was to especially thank you to my Pro Shop and Marshall staff that volunteered their time to set up and clean
up. Great job guys. I really appreciate all of you. Congratulations to the Souhtport Club Champion for their excellent golf skills enabling
them to take the Honors. Jerry Hiland- Mens Champion
Sue Wampler- Ladies Champion Again, I cannot express the importance of the 90* rule. I still see many golfers not
adhering to this rule. Please respect your course and rules. All par 3's are CART PATH ONLY!.
HANDICAP carts no closer than 15' and never on the greens. Please abide by these rules.
Please fix all divots on Tee, in fairways, and on greens. Do not go inside cart sign boundaries or within 30' of the greens.
Another reminder that all Members and non- Members MUST have a tee time. Make tee times early and pay in advance if after 3 pm. All non-member Resident
golfers with own carts expect to be on the course after 3 pm will be given a bright pink card to hang on their carts with a date and receipt attached to the back
indication they have paid. Greens are continuing to look great and work continues on rest of course.
Thanks and remember to have fun. Happy Golfing Dave Stemen- Pro Shop Manager
Golf Committee
The golf committee is very happy to announce that we had a very good time this year at the Club Championship. There was a good turnout and all the players said that they
had a great time. The men's champion this year is Jerry Hiland and the women's champion is Sue Wampler.
The senior's champion is Keith Campbell. I want to give a real big shout out to Ron Greene for all that he did to pull off the golf tournament and the dinner for everyone at the awards presentation and I want to thank our park manager Terri Passaro for her
support as well. At the golf meeting on March 18th. Everett Holdridge was elected the new President. I want to welcome him and give him all the help that he needs to get settled in his
new position. I hope every member will give him all their support as well. IGM has put some crushed asphalt down on some of the cart paths because in the past when it rained they washed out. This will hold dirt in place the new cart paths are put
in place. IGM is also working on reparing a lot of the old sprinkler heads. Thanks to everyone that supported me for the last 2 years and please give Everett
your full support now.

APRIL GOLF COURSE
MAINTENANCE UPDATE
Since October of last year exciting things have taken place on the Southport Springs Golf course. We appreciate the opportunity to list a few of the events that have
happened and we will continue the share with you the changes that will take place throughout the coming year.
The winter transition from native Bermuda grass to overseeded cool season turf was
completed giving the golfers a good surface to play on as well as the pleasing appearance throughout our winter months.
We have replaced all of the bunker rakes, flags, flagsticks, and cups including those on
the practice putting area.
Some the cart path areas that continue to wash out during our heavy rains have been replaced with crushed asphalt to help alleviate this condition.
Weak areas of the greens have been reseeded.
Emergent herbicides are being sprayed throughout the season to prevent more of the weedy grasses from taking hold which will result in better coverage of the Burmuda
grass as the winter grass dies out.
We fertilize any weak areas on the course as needed to improve the health and to encourage the areas to fill in with Bermuda grass more rapidly.
Falling leaves are actively being removed from the golf course.
A herbicide program will begin and continue through out the spring and summer months
for weed control.
The fairways, tee boxes, greens and roughs will be fertilized through the coming season.
Greens will be sprayed with a fungicide throughout the year to prevent algae growth to
keep our greens healthy.
IGM appreciates your understanding and patience as our projects move forward to improve the conditions of our course.
Sincerely, IGM Management
