After more than ten years as the Recreation Director at TBC, JoAnn Malloy looks forward to seeing returning Owners each year and providing activities and crafts for the youngsters and the young-at-heart. JoAnn’s most popular activities continue to be tie-dyed tee shirts, a favorite with guests of all ages and Kids’ Night Out, which is usually held onTuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the former sales center. Children aged 4-12 are invited to watch an age-appropriate movie (nothing over PG), munch on pizza, popcorn and sip lemonade. The $13 fee includes the movie, popcorn and a fun time with other children. It also presents a nice opportunity for parents to sneak away themselves for a quiet meal together. Also very popular is a new craft that allows kids to paint wooden- shaped dolphins, turtles and crabs. Another favorite activity is the creation of “Memory Wire” bracelets made with glass beads. Please check the weekly recreation schedule in your check-in package. Adds the resort’s top crafty lady, “I absolutely love what I do. I don’t have to sit in an office and it keeps me outside in the great Florida sunshine and working with super families and children. It is a treat to be able to make the kids smile and return home with a happy vacation memory.” Manager’s Message These days, nearly everyone conducts business online, from paying bills to ordering books to booking airline tickets. Owners at Tortuga Beach Club recently had the option of conducting an important piece of their association business over the web, using an easy and convenient online voting system. The Tortuga Beach Club Association held its annual meeting in March 2010 and enjoyed a very successful online turnout, with 33 percent of the Owners participating in the election choosing to vote electronically. This was the first time this option was offered. Through this process, Bob Buechel and Beryl Munson were re-elected to the Board. Our goal is to continually increase the number of Owners opting for electronic communications, which will further reduce the printing and postage costs related to your association mailings. Please be sure that the office has your correct email address, which is most helpful as an additional means of contact and for sending you a survey after you depart the resort. We encourage you to participate in this survey. Betsy Cain, Resort Manager Beware of Resale Scams Sales associates Milli Jones and Joanne Peters caution all Owners to beware of companies that contact you with the promise of being able to sell your timeshare week. These solicitors often charge $300-$1,500 in UP-FRONT FEES to supposedly sell your week. They make false promises of potential buyers, often at unrealistic prices and often disappear after they cash your check. If you want to sell your week, contact Milli or Joanne, not someone you may never hear from again. HGVC does not charge for listings. Betty & Dick Saunders (L-R) of Glenview, IL reminisce with their friend Barbara Spoehr (center) who now lives near Sanibel and Bert & Patty Sullivan (far right) of Winnetka, IL. The Saunders, own five weeks and the Sullivans have nine weeks at TBC. Dick, Bert and Barbara went to high school and college together and Betty and Patty have known each other since they were five years old. Patty met Bert at the Saunders’ wedding where she was a bridesmaid and he was the best man. The Saunders have owned for 25 years and the Sullivans became owners a year or so later. Can’t you just imagine the wonderful memories they share ... all through the magic of timesharing!
