Millat Town Site CharacteristicsThe site Exists in Shah Faisal Town Metropolitan of Karachi East district. The Site was selected due to helping community, availability of representative 3 segments and co-operative farmers. The Sewerage network in Community section consists of an open drain and an underground sewerage line parallel to each other. The wastewater from Azeempura, Green Town, A proportion of Shah Faisal Colony and Millat Town confluences in this sewerage network. The Water is Collected in Natural Earthen pounding after emitting from drain. This water is then used for Irrigation to Farmers fields by gravity or by lifting through pumps.

After visit to field areas of all proposed sites and interaction with farmers the team members recommended that due to helping community, availability of representative 3 segments and co-operative farming community the site of Millat town area is representative and according to criteria and will fulfil the objectives of mini pilot project. The site exists in Shah Faisal town metropolitan of Karachi East district. The farmers area of project site is situated in Rita plot union council of Shah Faisal Metropolitan left of Azeem pura Road. The open drain is situated at Choudhry Raheem Ud Din taqqi road which is b/w green town and shah faisal town. This area comes in moria khan goth union council right side of azeem pura road. The open drain has a total length of 700 meters upto natural earthen pounding. It is 5 feet wide and 6 feet deep. Approximately 1/10th part of shah faisal town confluxes in this drain. The all drainage water of golden town, Azeem pura and some part of millat town also confluxes in this drain. According to 1998 census, The population of shah faisal colony is 335,823. The population of golden town is 28,000 approximately and of azeem pura is 10,000-12,000. The wastewater of Millat town was firstly confluence through a separate drain to the same earthen pond but this drain is currently choked. A drainage channel is under construction to confluence the wastewater of airport locality to this open drain.3Problems of AreaDrain is open to atmosphere and passes from just front of home doors. There is no system of solid waste collection in area. From the pound the drain water is directly used for irrigation which is a health risk for water users and consumers of produce. It is major cause of smell, diseases and mosquitoes breeding colony in area and has also considerable effect at property value of area. The drain passes just before the homes of people and due to narrow ways to home doors at drain, It is a high risk for passing by people specially children to fall in drain.due to un availability of solid waste management system there are large slums of solidwaste along the drain and people throw their solidwaste in these slums or directly in drain which chocks the drain.4Action Areas:The resources are meager therefore work is concentrated in three segments covering three action areas:oFirst SegmentoSecond Segment oThird segment

Actions for solid Waste Management in Area Removal of Solid waste slums around the drain with help of town committee: Application of EM at solid waste dumped at dumping site: Awareness program of Solid waste management at household Level

The four solid waste slums present surrounding the drain where people throw their household garbage were finished with the help of town committee. This solid waste is dumped at dumping site near natural earthen pounding. The drain is repaired from the points where needed by town committee. The EM is sprayed at solid waste at solid waste dumping site to reduce its volume and minimize its odour. After segregation of indecomposable items from it the remaining will be compost and can be used as a fertilizer in the farm fields.A team is hired consisting of two female members to start awareness program door to door in project area and convince people for segregated collection of solid wastes of decomposable and indecomposable items. The people can collect polythene bags in home separately and these can be sold. The re-cycle able items like glass, metals can be collected separately and can also be sold. The decomposable items will be applied EM seed to decompose at fast rate and become organic fertilizer which can be used for home gardening or can be sold to person which will be appointed for collecting it from door to door by homes using segregated collection of solid waste technique.

To keep clean yourself, Your Homes and your community.Segregated collection of decomposable and recyclable itemsMaking of fertilizer from recyclable items and home gardening.Donate your books and use your neat copies after completion of year for rough work at remaining pages.

Islam places great emphasis on cleanliness, in both its physical and spiritual aspects. On the physical side, Islam requires the Muslim to clean his body, his clothes, his house, and the whole community, and he is rewarded by God for doing so. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, for example:

"Removing any harm from the road is charity (that will be rewarded by Allah)." [Bukhari]

All the laws and injunctions given by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) are pure; on the other hand, man-made laws suffer from the impurities of human bias and other imperfections. Thus any formal law can only be truly just when it is purified by divine guidance - as elucidated by the Qur'an and the Sunnah - or if it is divinely ordained to begin with - the Shari'ah.Jis Mazhab Mei Safai Ko Nisf(Aadha) Emaan Karar Diya Gaya Ho Uss Mazhhab Ko Maanne Wale Mulk Mei Yeh Kiya Haal HaiDunya mein mahol ki alodgi ke muzar asrat par har jagah behas ho rahi hai aur ayenda barson mein umeed ki jati hai ke zehreelay asrat ka khuch sad-e-bab kiya jaye ga. Hamare mulk Pakistan mein abadi ka rujhan ayenda sadi ke ikhtitam par America se zayada ho jaye gi. Agar Pakistan ki abadi 1947 mein million thi tou 2100 mein 316 million ho jaye gi. Sailaab matwaqa ho jayain gey jis se kayi nuqsanat ke ilawa zameen ki pehli teh sailaab ke sath beh jaye gi aur zair-e-zameen pani mein aloodgi parh jaye gi. Zameen ki uper wali teh hi zarkheez hoti hai. Hamare wasail mehdood hain aur mahool ki safai zaroori hai. Magar abadi ke is rujhan se mahool ki safai kese mumkin hai. Gariyan hi gariyan, dhunwan hi dhunwan nazar ata hai.Cleaning up the environment may seem like too big a problem, but you just start at home and work your way up. If everyone did their small part, the whole world would quickly become a cleaner place. You're never too young to help!5 Easy Ways to Cut Pollution1. Use public transportation keeping cars off the road is one of the best ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.2. Clean green keep nasty chemicals out of wastewater by switching to natural soaps and detergents made from citrus, enzymes, or oxygen.3. Use green energy chose utility companies that rely on renewable sources of energy and find ways to incorporate green energy sources into your home.4. Filter your water make sure your home drinking water is free of contaminants by using a reverse osmosis filter with activated charcoal.5. Be responsible with your trash make sure hazardous waste like batteries, solvents, paints, and motor oil are recycled or disposed of properly.Collect re-cycleable material separately in house and sale where it is saled.Recycle.Recycling is an excellent place to start. If we couldn't recycle, there would be so much trash on the ground that we couldn't see our own feet! Recycling is great. Think about it, when you recycle paper, it improves our oxygen level. When you recycle plastic, new things can be made from it, such as bottles or carpets. When you recycle aluminum, new cars can be made from it! Recycling benefits you and everyone else. If you want to find recycling bins in your area, go to Earth911.comConserve energy. The less resources (like water) and energy (like electricity in your lights) we use, the less resources we need to take from nature, and the less energy we need to produce. Fun Fact: If you have a leaky faucet that leaks one drop per second, that equals 650 wasted gallons of water per year! It adds up! Also, remember to turn off your lights when to leave the room. Both of these not only help the environment, but also save your family money. You may not have to pay bills now, but when you get your own house someday, you will! It's better to start good habits now while you're young. Turn down the heating in your home. It's much more effective to heat you with a jacket then heating your entire house.

Use Earth-friendly products.Another way to help is by using products that don't hurt the environment. Buy toiletries from companies that don't test their products on animals. Check the labels for "no animal testing." To help keep the water clean, don't buy products that have the words "Toxic", "Danger", or "Warning." on their labels. If they do, they are probably harmful to you, and the environment. There are tons of earth-friendly products and home-made recipes you can use to help save your environment and clean up at the same time! Contact the resource at the end for more ideas.Have a neighborhood clean-up.To do this, you should pass out a flyer to your neighbors with the time and meeting place to begin the clean-up. You may also want to have a thank you party, for the people who helped. If so, mention the party in the flyer and what time the clean-up will end.Make a difference.A very powerful action you can take to save the environment is to write letters to your congressman/woman. Tell them why you want to protect the environment and/or about a particular environmental issue in your area that you are passionate about. You can get their address from your parent, teacher, or at the library. If your teacher is interested, you could get everyone in the class to write a letter and send them all together. This will really get their attention! This is how major changes can get made by individuals like you and me. And, it's very simple.Stay active. The best thing for you to do is to keep your parents and your friends aware of how important it is to recycle and keep your neighborhood and total environment clean. Remember: Everything you do is important, no matter how small you think it is. We only have one world and we have to keep it clean. Encourage your family and friends to follow your example.Donate toys, books, or CDs that you don't want any more.Only throw things away if they just can't be used any more. Take them to a nearby charity shop. Who knows, when you go there you might find something you do want. There are many things you can do to keep the environment clean. You can make sure to not litter, try to recycle whenever possible, try to buy as many recycled products as possible, watch your water use at homeThe Community Cleanup Program is an event where the City brings dumpsters out to a spot in your neighborhood and invites neighbors living in a residential single-family or duplex home to bring their junk and dump for free. If this sounds like something your neighborhood needs - and you can help to organize the event and know some volunteers who would be willing to help out - fill out an application and return it to the City. How to Organise a Community Clean UpAssess the possibilities:is there a lot of small-scale litter around that needs clearing to make your neighbourhood (school campus or whatever) look just that bit better and smarter? Note where the worst stuff is, its nature, and what could conceivably be done with a few hours' labour from a number of people.Work with a community group (such as Neighbourhood Watch, residents' association, etc.) use this as a vehicle for reaching the local residents; if not, you will need to talk to quite a few of your neighbours and perhaps set up a meeting. Describe the problem and your potential solution. Be open to others' contributions to the discussion.Manage the household solid waste at house hold level:
