SEVEN SPRINGS, PA. August6-9, 1987.- From all accounts, fromevery corner, every single attendeesaid unanimously, "TIllS IS THEBEST". They were talking about thefour day, three night extravaganza atSeven Springs Mountain Resorts inChampion, Pennsylvania. More than ahundred Maulana Azad families had

gathered there for their third Reunion.They were overwhelmed. They hadfun. Five hundred Maulana Azadians,men, women and children-walkingthe sprawling lawns of Seven Springs,in the backdrop of beautiful mOUJl-tains, meeting ,in the corridors,

greeting each other in the restaurants,going to the Ski Lodge for the IndianDinner all dressed up in Saris and KurtaPajamas, having debate and argumentsand lectures, coffee, danish in themeeting rooms, singing and listeningto the melodious songs and on andon. Some said it could never be top-ped; others felt it would be better andbetter every year.

A lot of work went into the plann-ing of 1987 Reunion. The organizer,R.D. Kapoor and the travel agent,Barbara Glassman, along with thePresident Jagdish Dang and SecretaryBina Kapila worked together, oversaw

The ride itself became a musicalknockout when the front seatpassengers started Antakshri with theback benchers. The tempo keptbuilding on. ['he noise kept going up.The competition became so fierce, thesongs beca!J1~,$0sc.arce. The grown- => ~-o!""'~'~ups started acting liKe the eigl1tandthe ten year olds. 'l'hey were yelling;they were screaming. The languagebecame colorful-'7-Hindiand Punjabicolors. The picnic atmosphere gotheightened. And then the words.And. .. they got stuck with the letter'F.' The Front Fiercely Fought. TheFools Failed. The Fantastic Fun FilledFanfare ended when the bus reached

the'teII1ple. "Who won?" You ask.The answer: EVERYBODY. Nexttime, be there.

tel Jagdish C. Dang, MD, graduate of1964 came to the United States in1966, is in private practice ofPsychiatry in New Jersey. He startedwriting personal letters to all Ma.ulanaAzadians he knew in 1985. The firstletter, to 15 persons, on May 5, 1985started with "Dear Maulana Azadian:Let's arrange a Maulana Azad AlumniReunion...," the next letter on May20, 1985 was to 35 persons, the June1 letter was to 50, and so 01). The

~ help from other Maulana Azadianswas so great, that in August 1985there were 35 families getting togetherin Pennsylvania. You know the rest.(By the way, those letters are aclassical example of how an associa-tion can be started and continued,with the support of fellow helpers,and if the time is right. Teen: Oh, him. He is cute, and heis a good dancer.

Teen: American teens are very ad-justable and flexible kids.They don't always go by thebook, and now, if you willplease excuse me, this is aTeen Disco, and we are hav-ing the fun of our life.
