AN ECLECTIC range of entriesaided by internet marketing ensured agood turnout at John Goodwin’s latestcollective auction sale at the ThreeCounties Showground.

There was a great deal of pre-saleinterest, mostly from specialist collec-tors, in a collection of early StarWars figures and Lego space seriessets dating from the 1970s.

Commission bidders, telephone bid-ders and a number of enthusiastswho attended the sale helped toachieve a total hammer price for thesmall collection of almost £2,000.Top price for the Lego sets was £155and the Star Wars figures £170.

Other toys created a significantamount of pre-sale interest includingsome early Action Man figures sell-ing at £70.

One of the more modest entries inthe toy section was a quantity of We e ble s ite ms whic h le d to a nimpromptu verse of “Weebles wobblebut they don’t fall down” bringing asmile to the faces of those attendingof a certain age!

Furniture once again produced amixture of results with some itemsachieving disappointing prices.However, there were one or two veryple a sa nt surprise s inc luding aRegency rosewood sofa table in needof restoration which sold at £1,400and a diminutive walnut drop leaf table, also requiring attention, at£400. A similar hammer price wasachieved for a rosewood cupboardwith gallery and a mahogany lowboysold at £420.

There was interest in oriental items

including a Chinese lacsold at £300.
