Bugatti Type 68 369cc 1942

Bugatti has its own microcar. This small car was designed by Ettore, when he was in Paris during WWII. It had a superb small 369cc four-cylinder compressed engine, four valves per cylinder, which seems to be a wonder for anyone interested. Only one Type 68 prototype was bull~ but Ettore also made a few sketches of Type 68 fitted with an "Atlantique··type coupe body. A small number of engines were built and a few still exist. In order to hide his research on Bugatti's microcar, the engine and transmission were tested on motorcycles. The car In the picture Is part of the Schlumpf Collectlon and exhibited In the Musee National de !'Automobile de Mulhouse.
