2 49th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting / Annual General Meeting 2019
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF MOA MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISING CHAIRMAN
My dear colleagues and friends,
It is my pleasure as the organising chairman to invite you to the 49th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association AGM-ASM to be held in the Hilton Kuala Lumpur from 2nd to 4th of May 2019.
The theme for this meeting is “Repair And Regenerate”, focusing on geriatric orthopaedics, an area that has not been a focus in MOA’s ASM before.
With ever improving healthcare standard globally as well as back home here in Malaysia, an ageing population with their orthopaedic problems have increasingly become a critical aspect of healthcare that necessitated a paradigm shift in how we approach the care of elderly orthopaedic patients and overcome the many challenges in achieving comprehensive geriatric healthcare.
The scientific committee promise you an eye opening, lively and interesting programme for all. Book your calendar now and see you in Kuala Lumpur in May 2019!
Dr Chye Ping ChingOrganising Chairman49th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting / Annual General Meeting 2019
Dear Colleagues,
I am honoured to be the President of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association 2018 – 2019. I am grateful to the Past Presidents for laying the strong foundation for our association. Prof Wan Faisham, the immediate Past President has lead and managed the association well. The recent Annual Meeting in Penang was not only a success but a memorable and unique event.
We have begun busy preparation and planning for the upcoming 49th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting 2019. The council and I, as well as the scientific committee invite you to participate in this meeting. It will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 2nd to 4th of May 2019.
Each year, orthopaedic surgeons, trainees, medical officers, orthopaedic nurses, allied health professionals alike not only attend and participate but work closely with us and industry partners to bring about our annual scientific meeting. This meeting has grown each year in size and quality. Our younger colleagues have an opportunity to build their confidence and present in poster and oral presentations sessions. And for all of us, it provides a venue and platform to meet, interact, renew networks and update ourselves with surgical techniques, implants, medication and outcomes.
The theme of our 49th Annual Scientific Meeting is "Repair And Regenerate". Our bones and joints inevitably ages. The ageing population are increasingly in need of our expertise and services. They are challenging to treat and more effort too should be directed at prevention and conservation. The younger group also need our help as they too can have prematurely “old” joints and bones due to disease and injury. Let us see whether there are new innovative techniques which deliver more than hope but results. Therefore, I trust you will be as excited as I am to see what our Organising and Scientific Chairwomen, Dr Chye Ping Ching and Assoc Professor Dr Nor Hazla Mohd Haflah have lined up for us in ASM 2019.
Until we meet in May 2019, I wish everyone good health and success.
