Malaysia Law Program Study Law at Sunway campus, Malaysia 2010 marks the first time that Monash University’s Law Faculty offers a multi-unit study program in Malaysia together with its international partners City University of Hong Kong, University of Malaya and University of Windsor (Canada). The exciting new Malaysia Law program, running from July to August 2010, is modelled on the highly successful Prato Law program. Studying at Monash Sunway allows you to immerse yourself into life of multicultural Malaysia while studying a range of comparative and international law subjects. You will be taught in intensive or semi-intensive mode by distinguished academics from Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. In small classes and state-of-the-art facilities, you will enjoy a unique study experience with students from international and local partner universities. At the same time, the Malaysia Law Program offers sufficient flexibility to allow you to experience in your spare time the cultural and natural attractions of Malaysia and the South-East Asian region. www.law.monash.edu

Program datesThe Malaysia Law Program runs from early July until late August 2010.

Social and cultural opportunitiesThe Monash Sunway campus is situated within the metropolitan region of Malaysia. Students studying in the Malaysia program havethediverseattractionsofKualaLumpur, Malaysia’s capital city, within easy reach. These include the Petronas Twin TowersandKLCC,endlessshoppingopportunitiesaroundBukitBintang,thecolonial buildings around Merdeka Square, and the night market in Petaling Street. OutsideKualaLumpur,Malaysiaofferssandy beaches, tropical forests and highlands. There are many reasons why Malaysia is one of the most popular destinationsforvisitorstoAsia.

Malaysia is a multicultural country in which Malays,Chinese,Indiansandmanyotherethnicgroupshavecreatedauniquecommunity. Malaysia’s multiculturalism is reflectedinitsfamouscuisine,diversefestivalsaswellasthewelcomingandfriendly attitude of its people. There will be a welcome dinner at the commencement of the Malaysia Law Program where you will havetheopportunitytomeetfellowparticipants from other countries.

Theprogramwillalsoincludevisitstolocallegal institutions and meetings with members of Malaysia’s legal profession.

Program informationUnitsaretaughtinsemi-intensiveorintensivemodewiththecourseassessmentgenerally in the form of an exam, or exam andassignment.Coursematerialwillbeavailableatthebeginningoftheprogram,orearlier where possible.

FacilitiesTheMonashUniversitySunwaylibraryhasfacilitiesandservicesforstudentsuse,including the required readings for Law units taught at the Malaysian campus.

Students are also able to remotely access MonashUniversityLibrary’selectronicinformation, including databases and digitised print material.
