“Take MUNI to the Lake”

Winston Drive is the link from Muni to Lake Merced recreation sites

And… arriving in late 2015: SF State

Student Recreation and Wellness Center

We will need ~5000 safe pedestrian crossings/day

This project corrects significant deficiencies in

crosswalks and sidewalk connectivity

Installs sidewalk for Lowell HS

and Lakeshore Elementary

Opens closed campus-side

crosswalk

Corrects safety and access issues with low

visibility crosswalk due to street warp

Connects Buckingham and University Park

Improves pedestrian connections into Stonestown Widens sidewalk at bus stop

Improving this corridor

better connects our city!

Let’s make it easier to visit “SF/SW”

our southwest coastal recreation area

Better sidewalks will build the pedestrian

traffic that supports Stonestown and Muni

Let’s provide those sidewalks!

Remove obstacles to pedestrians

Widen existing sidewalks

for comfort and accessibilty

Two people can’t pass – barely room for a wheelchair

Let’s open closed crossings

Add landscape plantings in islands

for safety and attractiveness

Lift a section of road edge

to level the road for pedestrian safety

Road currently slopes steeply to the north and west within the crosswalk area,

increasing vehicle speed and reducing visibility for pedestrians.

Project lifts road

to this desired

grade

Which will correct the steeply sloping

and non-compliant midblock crosswalk

And implement traffic calming

Add median or pedestrian bulbouts to provide refuge and

shorten the unprotected crossing distance

Maintain the comfortable bike lanes

Bike lanes are 6 ft wide for safety

And provide better sidewalk

clearance at our transit stops!

Every better street makes a better city

This project showcases effective coordination between public

agencies, neighborhood associations, and commercial

properties in a project that benefits the whole city.
