First thoughts on Scope 2 Guidance
• Very good that GO is recognised as the best tracking instrument
• Rather uncomfortable with the double figure approacho Why a location figure and a market figure in Europe?o There will be some ‘very dirty’ renewabled locations
showing up on the carbon map!o Will customers be enlightened or rather confused by
conflicting figures?o Could this be perceived as a new form of double
disclosure?
• But this is still a valuable new piece of the puzzle!

Empowering electricity customers
Disclosure information empowers customers
But is saying
Disclosure = transparency
sufficiently convincing to justify the costs and burdens?
How about:
Disclosure = carbon?
Disclosure = carbon = value!
Can this fix the problem of the GO-market: too much offer, too little demand?

Conclusions
• The puzzle is becoming more and more complete…• and attracting more and more attention• This will help to move the energy customers into the
driver seat for making the electricity market more sustainable, more green
• But not all pieces of the puzzle fit perfectly already, and even are missing altogether
• So let’s all think, act and talk about this, so we can move towards a zero-carbon electricity market as soon as possible
