– a lesson from a road-side chef

in Samrong Mean Chey

“As CAFOD’s Programme Support Officer for Cambodia, I make regular visits to communities such as Samrong Mean Chey,” writes Clodagh Byrne.

“I experience our partner Salvation Centre Cambodia’s work in action, discuss areas of progress and challenges and meet the people our programmes are reaching. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the different ways people’s lives are changing as a result of our projects.”

Welcome to Kainmari, southern Bangladesh

“Without fail I am always inspired by the strength and commitment of the people I meet.

“On a recent visit, I was lucky enough to get an added bonus – the chance to improve my cooking skills. As I was walking down one of the long dusty roads I came across a young woman selling sweet bean cakes from a stall at the side of the road.

“When I tried one of the cakes and commented on how tasty it was, she offered to teach me how to make them, so I returned the next day for a memorable outdoor cooking lesson.”
