Be in control of your life: Make your own decisions

Page 2: Make your own decisions

IntroductionHave your ever encountered times

when you know what you should be doing, but you still insisting on getting other people opinions?

Have you ever regretted in taking someone else advice because your advice was better than the other person?

Page 3: Make your own decisions

Why you end up choosing others advice over yours

• If you end up choosing other people advice over yours, then it is not because your advice is bad, but you have been influenced by other people

• There will be times when other people opinions will affect you without you realizing it

• For example, when you wait too long to make a decision, you will be influenced to make decision based on other people

• The longer you wait to make a decision, the more influenced you will become

Page 4: Make your own decisions

How influences begin• The moment that someone begins to hear what

your problem is, they will begin to give you their opinions, and then, the influence begins

• After you have heard so many opinions, you will get confused because you will not know which opinion is right for you

• The worst part is that you will start to believe that your decision comes from you, but it actually comes from other people

• A good example is advertisements, when advertisements are already influencing you, your decision is based on what the advertisements are saying, and less from you

Your life, your decisionWhen it comes to your life, if your

decision is not coming from you, you are more likely to make the wrong decision

No one understands what you are going through better than you

It does not matter how much you explain your situation to someone, they will never understand the situation better than you

Page 6: Make your own decisions

2 reasons why others might not understand your situation

First, you will never be able to tell 100% of the story

When something is passed down to another person, it will never be the same

Page 7: Make your own decisions

2nd fear• It is your human fear to be vulnerable• When you share 100% about yourself or

your problem, other people might not appreciate you because your negative side is exposed

• As a result, you many tend to hold off on some information about yourself or problem

• Sometimes, you might believe that you are 100% sharing about your problem, but there is a good chance that you are not

Page 8: Make your own decisions

Holding off informationWhen you hold out on information,

other people will not be able to understand your situation well

As a result, people cannot advise you the best solution for your problem

Page 9: Make your own decisions

Don’t be under the influenceYou have to make your own

decision without other people influences

The only time when the decision is based solely on you is when you make the decision at the beginning when you have not been influenced yet

Page 10: Make your own decisions

The important of self-trustYou have to trust yourself that you can

solve your own problem because you already have all the solutions within you

In life, whenever you have a problem, you will also have a solution for it

You cannot have one without the otherIn life, everything has to stay in

balanced

think you do.” Benjamin Spock

facts filed away just below the conscious

level.” Joyce Brothers

Action Steps• 1. Whenever a problem develops,

immediately write down all of the solutions that you came up with by yourself. Think to yourself what would be the best things for you to do to help you solve the problem

• 2. After you gather all of your solutions, pick one

• 3. Take action right away with the solution you had picked

Page 14: Make your own decisions

Getting help • If you need help with the solution that you have

picked, then you can ask for help. However, you have to make sure you stick to your solution that you had picked

• People are only there to help you with your solution, not to be influenced to pick a different solution

• If no one agrees to help you with your solution, then you would rather try to accomplish it by yourself than changing your solution

• The only time you can change your solution is when you fail on the pervious solution
