    Remove Temporary Internet Files and Windows Temporary Files. (Start > All Programs

    > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Select Drive > Ok > Select Files to be

    removed > Ok)

    Empty the Recycle Bin

    Start Menu > in the Run menu, type regedit.exe > Enter > Go to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Desktop. On right side, Double-click

    MenuShowDelay. Edit the value. The lower the number specified, the faster the Start

    Menu will load.

    Open registry (Start Menu > in Run menu, type regedit.exe > Enter). Go to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion >

    Explorer. Create a new sub-key named AlwaysUnloadDLL and set the default value to

    equal '1' to disable Windows caching the DLL in memory > Restart

    In case on End Task, a program is unresponsive: Go to Start Menu > Run > type

    regedit.exe > Enter > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet >

    Control. Double-click WaitToKillServiceTimeout. Change its value to 1000. Periodically perform Hard Disk Defragmentation. (Start > All Programs > Accessories >

    System tools > Open Disk Defragmentor > Click on Analyze Disk)

    If the Send To menu (on right-click) loads slowly, type sendto in the Run Dialog, and

    remove unwanted items in the Explorer Window that appears.

    Download, install and run Bootvis (www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-

    Tweak/BootVis.shtml). Click Next Boot + Driver Delays under the Trace menu > A

    screen pops-up > Click Ok (Allow Reboot) > Bootvis pops-up > Click Optimize System

    underTrace (Allow Reboot) > Wait to finish optimization.

    To disable splash screen (boot logo). Click Start > Run > type msconfig > Enter >

    Click Boot (or BOOT.INI) from the top tabs > In Boot Options, tick No GUI Boot

    does not already exist). Modify it to 0.

    Replace a slow hard drive with a faster 7200 RPM drive, SATA drive, or SAS drive. In case of more than one disk in the PC, you can increase performance by moving you

    paging file to the second drive and formatting the volume using FAT32 instead of NTFS.

    Go to Start Menu > Run > type regedit.exe > Enter > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >

    SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > FileSystem. Double-click on the

    NtfsMemoryUsage key on the right-hand side and change the value to 2.

    Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Internet Settings. On right side

    right-click on MaxConnectionsPerServer, select Modify, click Decimal, and set the

    Value data field to 6. Repeat this process forMaxConnectionsPer1_0Server.

    Right-click My Computer icon. Click Properties. Click Advanced tab and undePerformance:

    o Click Settings and you can choose to switch off some of the Visual Effects

    Select Adjust for best performance.

    o Click Settings then Advanced. Click Change. Uncheck Automatically Manage

    paging file size. Select the drive C:. Select Custom Size. Enter Initial and

    Maximum value (1.5 times your RAM e.g, if you have 1 GB of RAM, set both

    the Initial and Maximum size boxes at 1500). Click the Set button. Click Apply

    and then Ok.

    Speed up Games.

    o Games, especially demanding 3D games, depend on graphics card, processor

    and RAM. Get the latest drivers for graphics card (www.nvidia.com for Nvidia

    GeForce and ati.amd.com for ATI).

    o Use display options in games menu screen, e.g, Low, Medium or High, or

    advanced options, shadows, resolution and other special effects etc.

    o While gaming, do not run other programs in the background, especially anti-virus

    software.

    o ReadyBoost feature uses external USB flash drives as a hard disk cache /

    additional RAM. Configure ReadyBoost by right-clicking the device in Windows

    Explorer, click Properties, and then click the ReadyBoost tab. The only

    configuration option is to configure the space reserved for the cache. You must

    reserve at least 256 MB. ReadyBoost cache cannot be greater than 4 GB on a

    FAT32 file system or greater than 32 GB on an NTFS file system.
