We recently had a vision planning meeting
with some of the veterans of children’s
ministry and Connection Hour. We had a
great time and were able to put together a
solid direction for your children’s ministry
here at First East! To the left I’ve put one of
the sample questions that was asked at the
meeting. Feel free to send me your answer
What would life look
like for a kid that was
the “perfect example”
or ideal result of a kid
that went through the
children’s ministry?

From the Pastor What a blessing God has given us through your generosity. We are about $130,000 above our three month emergency fund. We will have the blessing of using this to bless others and do some things around our church. We have met with the Mission Com-mittee to get their input and will meet with the Finance Committee to come up with a game plan. We can get rid of $130,000 really easily but that is not our goal. Our goal is to use it for what God de-sires. So, this week pray with us that we will understand why God
has blessed us so much this past year and how we can use this for His glory. This week we get back to our regular schedule on Sunday eve-nings. We have some great clas-ses in Discipleship Training to choose from. I hope you will check them out. They are very practical and will be very helpful. Rick Young will be teaching in the auditorium the whole spring. He will be teaching on the names of God. In March I will be leading Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace
University.” It is a great practical study on how to get your finances in order. Let me ask you to pray for Ray-mon Hixon, our financial adminis-trator. He broke his leg and it is not healing. Would you lift him up in prayer? He needs God’s healing. —Bro. Doug

Sunday nights at church afford great opportunities for everyone! You are encouraged to par-ticipate in one of five excellent studies being offered January 22. Sunday night groups help us be able to address specific topics that we just do not have time to address during our Connec-tion Groups. The fellowship is great, too! Try one for this upcoming six weeks!

Your Connection Group Is Looking For You! Hopefully the bad weather is behind us and everyone can feel safe coming to Connection Hour and wor-ship! This week’s adult session is entitled, “Rebellion’s Cycle” where you will discover the goal of God’s judgment is for repentance of His people! Let me encourage leaders from all age-groups to make a special effort this week to contact those who have been missing over the past few weeks. Some people are just waiting for someone from their group to contact them to see if they care! It would be great this Sunday (January 22) to see our rooms full again with people of all ages studying God’s Word! And, if you are one of the missing over the past few weeks, don’t let anything hinder you from being with your group this coming Sunday!
Every year we have a “4 The City” mission. This year we have hopes of using that opportunity to start a new off campus site, much like the one at Golden Rule on Monday nights. There is a great deal of potential in the communities near our church! This June, a group will have been meeting at Golden Rule for two years. The first week, we had two kids show up. Fast forward to today and the average number is 20-30 kids. There have been at least eight professions of faith and five baptisms. Wednesday nights have also grown at our church, on average 17 kids are picked up, and just last week 23 kids came to the Wednesday night service. I don't want to make this a numbers game, but I just want you to see what God can do with a few willing hearts. We are looking for people to replicate this at another site starting this summer. We want to have a block party, but the most important part is we need 6-8 peo-ple who are willing to make a weekly commitment to the people at this new site. I hope you will pray about committing to this work. Jesus said in Matthew 9:37 "the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." I hope you'll join in the harvest. We need you.
