$80,000/Year (Before taxes)

$60,000/Year (After taxes, 25% tax bracket)

$60K/12 Mos. Year = $5,000/month (Still not bad…)

40 hr./Wk + 10 hrs. Commute = 50 hrs/wk to your job

50 hrs wk X 4 wks/Mo. = 200 hrs./mo. To your job

$5000/200 hrs. = $25/hr. (Now, that’s bad)

EVEN MORE SAD NEWS…

Use this very same equation with an individual who only makes $30,000/yr. (Hypothetically, no taxes taken)

$30K/12mos. = $2500/mo.

40hr./wk + 10 hr commute = 50 hrs/wk X 4 wks/mo = 200 hrs.

$2500/mo divided by 200 hrs to the job = $12.50!!!!
