The output level of the instrument as wellas the quality of the signal can be affectedby the pickup height. Pickup height shouldbe adjusted until the volume of neck andbridge pickups are almost equal with bothvolumes wide open. The volume may dropdrastically if the pickup height is too low.As the pickups are magnetic, fret buzzingand distortion may occur if the pickup is tooclose to the strings. Use a smallscrewdriver to make adjustments to raiseor lower the pickup.
*Instruments that have adjustable pole pieces can be adjusted to balance the output of each string.

Intonation adjustment isthe operation of adjustingthe location of the string atthe saddle to compensatefor different tuning. Followthe instructions of theparticular bridge intonationbelow. Intonation isproperly set when the 12th fret note and the 12th fret harmonic are exactly thesame note. This is the center point of the scale and the most accurate way ofsetting a standard scale length. With the harmonic note as the standard, if thefretted note is flat move the bridge saddle forward toward the headstock (a) todecrease the string length. If the fretted note is sharp, move it back away fromthe headstock (b) to increase the string length intonation adjustments.
*Please note that strings can be broken when the saddle is moved, so always loosen the strings beforemaking adjustment.

IIbanez steel string models are equipped with adjustable truss rods. The purposeof a truss rod is to adjust the neck to counteract string tension. There are manyreasons for truss rod adjustments. One of the most frequent reasons is changingstring gauges or tuning pitch which can affect string tension. String tensionchanges may affect the string height and cause fret buzz or incorrect notes. Toadjust the truss rod, locate the truss rod nut and adjust it by inserting the correctwrench into the nut and tightening (clockwise) or loosening (counter clockwise)the rod. Truss rod tension can be measured by installing a capo at the first fret, holding the string down at thefret position where the neckjoins the body. Insert a thicknessgauge between the string andthe fret at the 8th fret. Thereshould be between 0.3 mm to0.5 mm clearance. Thatclearance is referred to as "neckrelief" Too much neck relief cancause the neck to have higheraction in the middle of the neckcausing poor intonation anduncomfortable playability. Noneck relief can cause fret buzz.
*Appropriate care must be taken whenadjusting the neck and we recommend onlyqualified technicians perform this procedure.
Regular cleaning of your bass isone of the most important waysyou can maintain the finish andlengthen string life. After playing, wipe down your instrument toremove any perspiration from theinstrument. Perspiration canactually contain acids that can becorrosive to the strings and metal parts of the bass. Gloss finish basses should bepolished with polish formulated specifically for musical instruments, and a softtreated guitar cloth or a cotton rag. Abrasive rags such as polyester can scratchthe finish. Oil finished basses should be wiped clean immediately after playingwith a dry cotton rag only. If your bass has become discolored due to extendeduse or heavy perspiration, factory appearance, see a qualified bass repair personabout methods to restore the oil finish to its original factory appearance.
If strings become dirty, discolored, orproduce a dull sound or buzz, replacethe strings with new ones. For bestresults we recommend replacing onestring at a time, this will help to avoidremoving the string tension from theneck. When replacing strings withdifferent gauge strings, it may benecessary to adjust the truss rodtension. (We recommend onlyqualified technicians perform this.)Ibanez basses are factory equippedwith the following string gauges. Please follow theinstructions below for your particular model. The stringsshould be tightly wound on to the tuning machines fromtop to bottom with 2 to 3 string wraps around the post. Incase of tuning machines, where the string ends areinserted into the posts, the string can be cut to length inadvance using a pair of string cutters. If the tuningmachines are sealed gear units, they are self-lubricatingtypes. The set screws for the tuning knob are adjustmentscrews that can be tightened with a small Phillips headscrewdriver to increase the tension.
*The use of coarse strings may lead to buzzing and sound distortion. Using stringsthat have twists or kinds may cause buzzing or decreased sustain. Make surethat the strings are smooth and free from any defects before installing.
IIbanez bass string action is set atthe factory. However, there aremany reasons that an instrument'sstring height can change.Instruments can be affected by changes in temperatureand moisture. High string action can make the guitardifficult to play. If the string action is too low, fret buzz orunclear notes can occur. To remedy this, follow theinstructions for the particular type of bridge installed. Inthe case of string action, make sure the guitar is in tuneand the truss rod is adjusted properly. Ibanez action is setto 2.0mm for treble side and 2.5mm for bass side at the12th fret. The action may also need to be readjusted afterthe neck is adjusted or strings are changed to a different gauge. Follow theinstructions in the relevant bridge manual to make adjustments.
* If strings other than those described above are used, gradually increase the action clearance from the treble sidethrough to the bass side.

The battery should be changed when thevolume becomes weak or the sound becomesdistorted. Use a new 9-volt alkaline (notlithium or carbon) battery. The battery isstored inside battery cavity or control cavity.Inserting a plug into the jack activates thepower supply. Be sure to disconnect the cordwhen the bass is not in use; this will preventthe battery from draining.

All 2 pickups models : Pickup BalancerThe pickup balance control pot allows the user to blendbetween the front and back pickups using a single pot. Thecenter position of the pot has a de-tent which will set bothpickups to equal output. Turning the knob clockwise increases the neck pickupwhile decreasing the output of the bridge pickup. Turning the knob counterclockwise decreases the neck pickup and increases the output of the bridgepickup.

Bass Bridges
B100, B105, B107 BridgeSR, SRX, RD, BTB
The B100, B105 and B106 bass bridges weredesigned for easy string change. The stringsare installed by hooking the ball end into thestring catch at the rear of the bridge. Theintonation can be adjusted by moving thesaddle forward or backward using a Phillipshead (+) screwdriver on the adjustmentscrew at the rear of the bridge. String heightis controlled by using a 1.5mm Allen wrench to raise or lower the Allen screws oneither side of the saddle.

To replace strings, thread the new stringsthrough the string holes located on the back ofthe tailpiece and bring them up and over thesaddle. The intonation can be adjusted bymoving the saddle forward or backward usinga Phillips head (+) screwdriver on theadjustment screw at the rear of the bridge. String height is controlled by using a1.5mm Allen wrench to raise or lower the Allen screws on either side of the saddle.

REPLACING THE STRINGSThe Accu-Cast B200 and B205 bass bridgesallow two styles of string installation. Thestrings are installed by lowering the ball endinto the bridge and hooking the ball endbelow the string catch at the rear of thebridge. (Figure 1) In this method, the strings are installed bylowering the ball end into the bridge andholing the string catch directly below thesaddle. This increases string tension andadds sustain. (Figure 2)
STRING HEIGHTTo raise or lower the string action, insert thecorrect Allen wrench into the screw (A) at thesaddle. To raise the saddle turn the wrenchclockwise and to lower the saddle turn thewrench counter clockwise.
INTONATIONIntonation adjustment can be made by adjusting the intonation screws (B) at therear of the bridge clockwise to move the saddle back and counter clockwise tomove the saddle forward.
