Main Task Pictures

These are all the pictures I took during my two photo shoots for my music magazine. Of these, I chose four to put on my magazine.

The chosen ones are identified and explained.

I chose this picture to be my contents page picture because the line of the piano draws people into the text. Also, it fits in with the themes of classical music and the black and white colour scheme. I chose to edit the picture and black out the surroundings to blend it in with the background and give it a more mystical and effective appearance.

I used Photoshop to manipulate the image below for my contents page. I took the image on the right and put it on a black canvas, and then carefully blacked out the entire background using the rubber tool (including the models arms) until only the hands and the piano were left. I thought it would be quite effective to leave the reflection of the model on the piano to give a magical feel.

I chose to use the left picture as my front cover picture because, firstly, it ties in with the main story on the front of the magazine. Also, the model is smiling more and looks more comfortable and relaxed. The shot is zoomed in further, which gives more detail of the model and the lighting is slightly lighter on her face which lifts the picture and instils a happier mood.

I chose to use the top left picture on my double page spread because on the picture below the two models on the left side are laughing! Also, on the top picture, Alison and all the models look more involved in the music they are “playing” and they look more natural and comfortable.

I chose to use the picture on the bottom right as the inset picture for another story because it was more of a close up of his face and portrays the character of the invented guitar player. Also the guitar is in close up which helps identify what he does.
