Pastor’s NotesThird Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parish Family,

This weekend the public announcement of the second phase of our Capital Campaign: The Legacy of Fr. Bernie, occurs. Due to the incredible leadership of our Campaign Co-chairs, Dick and Diane Erickson and Rick and Patricia Jones we have already secured pledges of $875,820 towards our goal of $1.75 million! I am so grateful to those families who have already commit-ted to helping us reach our goal and I know that the generosity of our Parish will ensure the success of this second phase. I hope you received the letter and campaign brochure that was recently mailed and if not, there are a number of brochures in the gathering area of the Church. It was decided that to honor the legacy of Fr. Bernie we would dedicate our efforts to him. He was incredibly instrumental in developing and growing this landmark Parish of St. Joseph in his almost 30 years of ministry here. In the process he brought countless souls into greater com-munion with Christ. Please join with me in ensuring that the legacy of Fr. Bernie continues for many generations to come.

Please mark your calendar for our pre-Lent Parish Mission scheduled for February 8—10. We will be welcoming Fr. Kevin MacDonald, C.Ss.R., a member of The Redemptorist Order, to share with us a mission titled “Symbols”. Fr. Kevin attended Boston College and played profes-sional baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates for 7 years. The symbols that he will speak of are paramount to our Faith. He will teach us about the Bible, Easter Candle and the Altar. Fr. Kevin will be preaching at all the weekend Masses on February 6 and 7. Please see the bulletin for detailed information on the mission topics and times.
