The Red Sox will have a good sea-son because their players are great and most of them stayed from last season, which will make a big difference. The kept their very good out-fielder Shane Victori-no. He has a great throwing arm, he can bunt well and will get himself in scoring posi-tion by stealing with his speed. The Red Sox still have one of the best designated hitters ever who was

named MVP of the world series, with a lot of RBI’s and home runs. His name is Da-vid Ortiz. The Red Sox still have their great coach from last year, John Farrell, who came in and fixed eve-rything. The Red Sox still have 2009 Golden glove award winner Dustin Pedroia who saved some big hits and lots of runs. The Red Sox have

great pitchers. One

great pitcher is John

Lackey. Jake Peavy

At 1:00 PM, Mr.

Brian Cohen came to our

classroom to talk about

Middle School. He said

next year we can not

wear sneakers, have po-

nytails, no more vending

machines, or eating pizza

On Tuesday,

May 27th the rumors

came out that Color War

would be the next day.

At lunch Rabbi Reisman

wanted the 5th and 4th

grades to be quiet. So he

told us a corny joke.

Here is how it went,

“The boys bathroom

pass is green, the girls

bathroom pass is red,

and I am feeling blue I

have no idea what that is

supposed to mean.”

Nadav Weglein quickly

figured it meant Color

War was coming.

and many more then he

said, “Rabbi Saltzman

what do you have to say.”

Rabbi Saltzman said,

“Color War is tomorrow.”

Then Isaac, Zevi, Ariel

and I were on our chairs. It

was probably the best col-

or war breakout!

The Lego Movie By, Abe Lovich

My last comment will be the plot. The plot has to be one of the most important parts of a movie. It has to be interesting and creative, and I can say that for both Indiana Jones and Batman. The only way that Indiana Jones can be better (or maybe worse, it depends on the opinion) is that since each In-diana Jones movie is based on a different religion that makes them unique. For instance, the first one, Raiders of the Lost Ark, is based on Judaism. The third one was based on Christianity. In Batman, however, there is always a differ-ent way that the villain tries to de-stroy Gotham. In the first one, Bat-man Begins, Ra’s al Ghul uses drugs that make people imagine their worst fear to destroy Gotham. In the second one, The Dark Knight, the Joker uses poison, bombs, secrecy, and surprise. In the third one, The Dark Knight Ris-es, Bane uses an atomic bomb to destroy Gotham. For me, I like the Batman plots better. These are only a few of the differences in movies.

Indiana Jones and Batman are both great movies, but which one is better? I did a vote of my class and Indiana Jones won by one vote. I think that is a pretty fair vote. Let’s talk it over. Firstly, you have to think about humor. Batman is really serious with almost no humor. Indiana Jones, on the other hand, is not full with humor, but is has much more humor than Batman. That point definitely goes to Indiana Jones. Here are some conversa-tions from The Temple of Doom: Shorty: Wow! Holy smoke! Crash landing! Jones: Shorty, step on it. Shorty: Okey dokey, Dr. Jones. Shorty: Hold on to your potatoes! Willie: For crying out loud, there’s

a kid driving this car! - Shorty: I keep telling you, you listen to me, you live longer! - Shorty: I’m very little! You cheat big! - Willie: You know how to fly, right? Jones: Um, no, do you? Next, there are the machines and gadgets. Indiana Jones has al-most no inventions. Batman has a ton. His suit is a gadget. The way his cloak reacts to wind currents is awesome! There’s also the bat mobile. That car/motorcycle is amazing!! It has all the modes possible, and it can change shape from a car to a motorcycle. But the best is “The Bat” in The Dark Knight Rises. It can fly, and it’s probably bulletproof too. Batman definitely gets that point.

Bricksburg because it was where

Emmet lived. I also liked Cloud

Cuckoo land because there are no

rules except that you must be hap-

py. Middle Zealand was a medie-

val place. The old west is very fun-

ny because Emmet gets hit in the

bottom by a cactus. Finally, Presi-

dent Business’ office was strange

because on one side there is ab-

solutely nothing and on the other 3

it was the sea. There was also a

lot more I will not mention and I

highly recommend the movie.

In this article, there are a few things I like about the Lego movie which I would like to share. In this article, I talk about the char-acters and a few things about them. I also talk about the places and a few thing about them.

I liked all of the main char-acters because they are very unique. The main, main character is Emmet. In the movie a strange piece, which is the piece of re-sistance, got stuck to his back be-cause he touched it even though in the instructions it said not to. Wyldstyle is a girl who is a master

builder. She is an amazing fighter against Lord Business and she has a secret about her name. Al-so, everyone thinks she is a DJ. Vitruvuis is a old wizard who also is a master builder. He has a very shocking secret. Bad cop is very unique because he has two faces, a good face and a bad face. Lord Business is the bad guy, strange-ly, he wants to glue everybody so nobody will be creative.

I liked all the different worlds be-

cause they are very strange and

crazy. I have to say, I like them all

but I have NO favorites. I liked

My trip to New York was really amazing. When we got to New York we were in Grand

Central Station. My family and I were looking around. My mom got worried when she couldn’t find Nachman but he was right behind her. After we got out of Grand Central Station we walked around New York. We saw a lot stores but we only went in two stores - the Ninten-do store and FAO Schwarz. Af-ter sometime we went back to Grand Central Station to have

dinner at a place called Mendy’s. It was awesome. Grand Central Station was busy! The next day we went to the

Jewish Children's Museum. At

the museum my little sister, Ra-

2013-2014 M-Cat Basketball Season By, Mark Fraenkel

The Maimonides M-cats

were going to start the season

against arch rival the Heifers from

Gann Academy but snow changed

the plans, but did it change the sea-

son?

Well, snow was a big part

of the early season, because the

Houston team came almost 24

hours late for the tournament host-

ed by Maimonides. The early sea-

son distractions did not stop Yoni

Klausner from being the newest

member of the 1,000 point club.

As many of you know Coach Gelb

doesn’t go easy, and just ran plays

like they have been together for

months.

The key players for the M-

cats were the starters. The best

player on the Maimonides squad is

Sharon native, Yoni Klausner, and

his ability to attack the hoop is a

sight. Sharon native, Eli Winton,

the strong rebounder, can also be

the big man. Newton native, Da-

vid Solooki, the athletic guard who

can bring the ball quickly.

Brookline native, Joseph Solo-

mont is a great point guard and a

passer unlike many professional

point guards. Last but definitely

not least, Sharon native, Yoni

Gelb, the forward who can shoot.

As many of you know Mai-

monides hosted a tournament. Mai-

monides did not have a win going

into Shabbos and it looked like

they were in a hole. With the larg-

est crowd of the tournament, on

Saturday night, they played the just

arrived team, Robert M Beren

Academy of Houston. It included

a great performance by Houston’s

Drayton Ratcliff, but the M-cats

still won 56-40. With a chance to

get in the finals the hosts played

Kushner of New Jersey. Maimo

was eliminated by a score of 54-

45 by the Cobberas from Kushner.

The winner was Torah Academy

of Bergen County.

The Maimonides M-cats

had a good enough record to quali-

fy for the Massachusetts Interscho-

lastic Athletic Association tourna-

ment. Maimonides’ first game was

against Cristo Rey of Boston. Mai-

monides played the game on Feb-

ruary 25th at Brookline High

School, to accommodate a large

crowd. Cristo Rey started the

game on a 9-0 run with three three-

pointers. Late in the tied game

Yoni Gelb hit a three pointer to

give the M-cats the lead; the lead

would last for the rest of the 80-72

win.

The next game was against

Saint Mary’s at Lynn High. In a

game that was never really close,

and with an opening game alley-

oop the final score was 70-44, end-

ing the Maimonides MIAA season.

But basketball was not over, they

still had to play at Yeshiva Univer-

sity’s Red Sarachek Tournament.

In the Yeshiva University’s

Red Sarachek tournament buzzer

beaters were the theme for the M-

cats. After a hard loss to the Frisch

Cougars the M-cats took a bus

from Yeshiva University to TABC.

There they played Yeshiva Atlan-

ta. The game was tied with thirty

seconds left. Klausner had the ball

and passed it to Winton for the mid

range make. The crowd erupted.

On Sunday at the Max Stern Ath-

letic Center at Yeshiva University

the M-cats played Fuchs Mizrachi

from Cleveland, Ohio. The game

was tied at the end of the first

quarter but the M-cats couldn’t

hold up. On Monday morning they

boarded a bus to take them back to

New Jersey. At TABC they played

Scheck Hillel of Miami. On Thurs-

day night TABC’s Yehoshua Zer-

man said after a win against Sheck,

“We noticed they had a small

bench so we took advantage...”

The tier II consultation game was a

hard one and the last game for

many seniors. In the fourth quarter

the M-cats were losing by seven.

The M-cats went on a 9-2 run to tie

the game with twenty seconds left.

Then with 5.8 seconds, Klausner

stole the ball and made a layup as

time expired. In the game he had

35 points. "Even though we did

not score in the second quarter, we

ran the fast break well, passed the

ball around and penetrated until we

had a good look," Yoni said.

"Today was unlike the first three

games we played, where our oppo-

nent tried to slow down the game."

Then the Maimonides website re-

minded us that “Sarachek Tourna-

ment does not employ a shot

clock.”

Will Zdono Chara Be Bruins Captain? By, Sam Herzlinger and Ben Itkis

Zdeno Chara, player number thirty-three on the famed Boston Bru-ins NHL hockey team, is a very good fighter when it comes to hockey fights. In fact, he is one of the best fighters in the NHL. First of all, Zdeno Chara is over seven feet tall on skates. This means he is less likely to get punched by some other player in the fight. Also, as you might expect for a hockey play-er in full pads and that is over seven feet tall on ice, Chara weighs more than two-hundred forty pounds!! That means that he can pin people to the ice or to the boards, and not let them

up. Thirdly, Chara has a wicked strong punch!!! This is how he K.Os people! Next, Chara is very stable on the ice. This means that he is hard to knock him over in order to tackle him. Lastly, Zdeno Chara is a very tough player. He will not get knocked down easily, and chances are that if you do manage to score some hits on him, you will find yourself in a hospital, in a coma from blunt force trauma. I don’t recommend getting in Chara’s way during a hockey fight!!

Zdeno Chara is one of the

fastest skaters in the NHL. First of all,

Zdeno has very good form. He can

turn fast, stop quickly and is very bal-

anced on skates. Secondly, since

Zdeno is very balanced on skates, he

can crouch down very low on the ice,

which enables him to get past the de-

fence, and score a goal. It also helps

him headbutt players in the stomach.

Thirdly, Zdeno is very strong. He can

push himself to go extremely fast on

ice. In my opinion, Zdeno Chara is the

fastest skater on the Boston Bruins.

Across The Pacific By, Avery Weinberg

Across the Pacific in China changes are being made to birth exten-sions. You probably don’t know that in China you are not allowed to have a second child. If you had a second child you would be sent to a labor camp. Well the people of China don’t like the rule, but now the government is seeing how much the people don’t like it. A record that China holds very proudly is that it is the most populated country and it is now at risk. China’s current population

is 1.351 billion while China's neighbor India is almost 1 million less people less than China and its birth rate still keeps growing. Some important bishops, minis-ters or presidents of temples don’t think it should be allowed. However more and more cities, communities, and provinces have been declining and re-making the law. But more people are now wanting to minimize the rule back to the one child rule. Others think that they should

be able to have as many children as they want. Imagine it if its population is 1.3 billion just imagine how many crying babies there would be, better stock up on diapers and pacifiers.... Anyways in conclusion this has been going on for years and it just caught America’s eye this November

and it could be debated forever.

Fro-Yo or Ice Cream? The Question of Life!! By, Maya Einhorn

Most People have the unfortunate decision to make; go out for Fro-yo or Ice cream? Personally, I like Fro-Yo but a lot of my friends like Ice cream. They are both cold, sweet, and have the best toppings including: Hot fudge, Cara-mel,Oreos, M&Ms, Cookie Dough, Gummy Bears, Peanut Butter Chips, Yogurt Chips and Chocolate Chips. They also

have lots of different flavors, such as; Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberries, Smoothie, Moose Tracks

Cookies and Cream, Mint, Cake Batter, Cheesecake, and Birthday Cake. I have surveyed a little over fifty people in order to get this conclusion. Any way, in conclusion over half the people

I surveyed voted for............Ice Cream!! About thirty people voted for Ice Cream. Even though that may

sound even, six people had no-idea-what so-ever so only sixteen people were for Fro-Yo(Frozen Yogurt)

Candy By, Emily Goldberg There are lots of things you can do with candy. First of all you can eat it. That is what I like to do!!!!!!!

Also if you have a brother or sister you can trade it with them for better candy. You also can take different candies and make your own out of them. Another thing you can do is you can give it to someone for a pre-sent because everyone loves candy. Lastly, if someone is sad give them a piece of candy to cheer them up. Trust me it will work! Overall, there are many thing you can do with candy.

I asked students “What candy have people not invented that you would want them to invent.” 3rd graders Oriah, Maayan, Rachel, Adi, Natalie and Michael answered this question. They said they would want chocolate stuffed whipped cream, candy eyes covered in cotton candy, shock candy, a lollipop cov-ered in chocolate and sprinkles, chocolate mixed with gummy bears and a lollipop with chocolate filling.

I asked 4th graders Brookie, Deena, Shirel, Cecilia, Nevo and Eitan the same question. They an-swered chocolate flavored sugar, chocolate chip cotton candy, sprinkle cotton candy, twix with white choco-late and sprinkles, chocolate gummies with cola and pretzels covered in marshmallow fluff. Lastly, I asked 5th graders Meira, Eliana, Ravid, Lainie, Talya and Tomy the same question. They said sug-ar blasts, sprinkle sculptures, chocolate sculpture sun day, bubbletastic choco rocket from the book The Candymakers, and chocolate covered marshmallow in hot chocolate. I think these are some great candies

and if some of you recommend these candies then you got yourself a new candy to try.
