Mail.dat® version 11-2, 12-1 or 12-2 Offers a Web-based electronic suite of services designed

exclusively for business mailers. Intended for mailers who generally use software to generate statements and have a need to send large or more complex mailings. Mail.dat is a relational database of nineteen "connected" files describing each characteristic that can exist within a mailing.

Mailer must: Submit mailing information electronically Comply with Intelligent Mail barcodes and label requirements

uniquely identifying mailpieces using Piece Detail Record or Intelligent Mail Range Record

In January 2012, the USPS began providing enhanced visibility into the Full-Service mailing process through new container and handling unit scans Allows mailers to view scans as containers and trays

are moved through the USPS mail stream

Download Online Reports The online reporting capability allows you to view information or

download reports in Excel or CSV format via the Business Customer Gateway (BCG). Reports can be downloaded by: Signing up on the Business Customer Gateway

Create a username and password Obtain a CRID for your company location The person that receives the feedback data must be associated to the

company CRID to access online reports The CRID that receives the feedback data is the CRID that is identified in the

mailer owner of the eDoc The data recipient named in the MID profile will receive the data based on the

CRID location Obtain access to “Manage Mailing Activity” to allow access to reports

Mail.XML® Receipt Methods

Mail.XML Push Mail.XML Push model is where the USPS sends

message to the mail owner’s computer that their feedback data is available for download or USPS “pushes” feedback data to mail owner’s computer. The data format for the Push is USPS defined format.

Mail.XML Pull Mail.XML Pull model is where mailer owner sends

XML message to USPS initiating a “pull” of specific feedback data to their computer. The data format for the Pull message is user defined.
