Introductory Courses in Indian Languages (Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu & Marathi),

Mandarin & Bhojpuri

Applications are invited from candidates wishing to follow the three-month Introductory Courses in Indian Languages (Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu & Marathi), Mandarin & Bhojpuri.

The courses in the different disciplines offered by the Mahatma Gandhi Institute aim at developing basic oral and linguistic skills and familiarising students with some of the terms and expressions commonly used in the different spheres of life in Mauritius. It will also expose learners to the different aspects of the cultural heritage of Mauritius.

All the courses will be run twice weekly at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka from 16.30 hrs to 18.30 hrsfor a duration of approximately 15 weeks.

Fees payable on registration day

Registration Fees : Rs 125/-

Course Fee : Rs 1000/- (for the duration of the course)

Entry Requirements

Students should have reached their 18th birthday by the closing date and should have a working knowledge of English or any relevant qualification acceptable to the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.

Mode of Application

Applications should be made on the prescribed forms obtainable from the Reception Counter, SMAS Building, Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka between 09.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs.

The application forms, duly filled in, must be returned together with photocopies of birth certificate, marriage certificate and certificate of naturalisation (where applicable) and educational certificates so as to reach the office of the Director-General (MGI & RTI), Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka, not later thanThursday 31 January 2013.

Applications received after the closing date and/or not supported by the relevant documents will not be considered.

The subject should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

Only successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications.
