POVERTY And how it affects children around the world
Poverty isn’t just a slide show.
It’s reality
40% of the world population lives on less than $1 a day.
noun: the state or condition of having little or no living resources, money, or means of support; condition of being poor.
What is poverty?
This often leads to:
a type of hunger that lasts over a long period of time.
CHRONIC HUNGER:
This causes weak metabolism, and higher chance of death.
Think about this….
22,000 people die each day because of
poverty
THAT
About 916 per hour.
And almost 15 per minute…
All taken by poverty
Children in poverty don’t have the same opportunities as us. For example:
about a billion people can’t even sign their name.
While you “FORGET” to do your essay…
In the 21st century!
In developing countries, 2.6 BILLION people
lack basic sanitation and life necessities.
We walk less than 20 steps to the sink for water that’s
clean.
Women in Africa walk 2 ½ miles a day to
get water.
And most of the time, it’s not even clean.
According to the World Health Organization,
there are 250 million cases of water related diseases.
WATER RELATED SICKNESSES:-cholera-diarrhea-stomach flu
Medication is expensive.
Most can’t afford it.
So, if a person living in poverty has a treatable illness, they will most likely die.
They need food. They need water. They need help.
Children in poverty don’t have a
future…
But YOU can change that!!!
