Definition
“Magnetic water treatment does not change the chemistry of the water but It alters the structure and property of liquid water”
Principle
“Magneto hydrodynamics”
O Lorentz force is exerted on water ions
O The redirection of the particles increases the
frequency of collisions between ions of opposite
sides
O Combining to form a mineral precipitate or
insoluble compound
Magnetic water treatment technology
O A water molecule consists of one oxygen and two
hydrogen atoms
O They form clusters with other water molecules
O Clusters come in many sizes depends on water
molecules involved
Cont.….
O Restructures the water molecules into very
small water molecule clusters,
O Each made up of six symmetrically organized
molecules.
O Cluster is recognized by the cell as "bio-
friendly"
Devices
O Two magnetic rods symmetrically oriented along the
axis of feed pipe
O Pole pieces at the end of each permanent magnet
focused the magnetic field
O Magnetic induction in the range of 3.5–136mT
Cont…O Water flow direction should be from North
magnetic pole to South magnetic pole
O The magnets should be installed on the pipe
between the main valve and the irrigation pipe.
O The mounting plate serves to increase the
magnetic field present inside the pipe
Types
O Temporary magnets
O Permanent magnets
Interior installed magnet
Exterior installed magnet
How does it works?
O Water passes through the magnetic field, all super- molecules vibrate
O This will intensify the internal vibration of these super-molecules to the breaking point.
Cont.…
O These super-molecules fracture and release their encaged particles (Ca,Mg).
O Precipitates come out of solution as a sludge and can be easily removed from the system

Cost
O Device for 1 ha = 31500rsO Life = 15yearsO Cost for 1 year = 2100rs
Benefits
O Devices are eco friendly
O Low installation cost
O No energy requirements
O Prevents water from forming normal chemical
reactions
O Reduces hydrogen sulfide smells and iron
buildups
Cont.…
O Gives hard water properties of soft water
O Stops buildup of scale and rust
O No Water Treatment Cost.
O Durable and Long Lasting.
O Zero Maintenance Cost
O Degassing of water
O Reduce electrical bills
Advantages
O Yields 10%-30%O Water absorption in soilO Bio-availability of water and nutrients to plantsO Increase oxygen concentrationO Improve soil pHO Increase flow of waterO Increase weight and size of productO Extent shelf life of produceO Increase seed germination
Cont.…
O Reduce water use up to 30%
O increase the levels of CO2 and H+ in soil
O Reduce total dissolved solids (TDS)
O Reduce fertilizer and pesticide needs
O Advanced ripening of fruits in all cases
Cont.…
O Affect soil nutrient availability
O Activate plant enzymes
O Reduce disease in livestock
O Reduce disease in aquaculture industry
O Increase the no of hydrogen bond
O Enrich soil permeability
Case studies
Case study -1
Objectives
O To assess the effect of magnetic water on
growth parameters of wheat
O To study the effect of photosynthetic pigment,
total indole and total phenol of plants
Materials and methods
O Grains were selected and planted in twenty pots
O Half of the pots were irrigated once a week interval with tap water
O Other ten pots were irrigated with the tap water after magnetization
O Plant height, fresh and oven dry weight of twenty wheat plants were determined
Results
O Growth criteria
O Photosynthetic pigment contents
O Indole and phenol contents
O Wheat yield and its components
Conclusion
O Results clear that all yield parameters
increased significantly by using magnetic
water
O Exposure of plants to MW is highly effective
in enhancing growth characteristics.
Case study -2
Objectives
O To study the effects of magnetic treatment of
irrigation water and snow pea & chick pea
Materials and methods
O The treatments included
(i) Magnetic treatment of irrigation water
(ii) Magnetic treatment of seeds (MTS)
(iii) Magnetic treatment of irrigation
water and seeds
(iv) No magnetic treatment of irrigation
water or seeds as control treatment
Results O MTW
Emergence rate index
snow pea- 42%
chickpea- 51%
Shoot dry weight
snowpea- 25%
chickpea- 20%
Cont.…O MTS
Emergence rate index
snow pea- 33%
chickpea- 37%
Shoot dry weight
snowpea- 11%
chickpea- 4%
Conclusion
O This study suggest that both MTW and MTS have the potential to improve the early seedling growth and nutrient contents of seedlings

Case study-3
Magnetised water treatments on chloride ions in trickle irrigation system
Objectives
O To compare the effect of magnetized and non-
magnetized water treatment on growth parameters of
Amaranthus.
O To compare the effect of magnetization of saline water
with the non-magnetized water.
O To study the effect of magnetized and non-magnetized
water in different soils at different salt concentrations.
Materials and methods
O The seedlings of Amaranthus are grown inside a shade house
O Transplanted into polythene bags
O Powerful Neo-dymium magnets was used for
the magnetic treatment of irrigation water
Results
Variation of N of water due to magnetisation
Variation of P of water due to magnetisation
Variation of K of water due to magnetisation
Variation of root length due to magnetization in sandy soil
Variation of root length due to magnetization in sandy loam soil
Variation of shoot length due to magnetization in sandy soil
Variation of shoot length due to magnetization in sandy loam soil
Conclusion O The yield of plants obtained from magnetised
water was more than that obtained from the non-magnetised
O The magnetic treatment of irrigation water resulted in statistically significant increase in the yield of plants in both soils
Conclusion O Changes the free gas content in water that leads
to improved crop yield
O Magnetic treatment affects the quality of irrigation water
O Technologies can reduce energy consumption, chemical resources, and water usages leading to cost savings and environmental improvements
